OVERVIEW OF THE POSITION:
Responsible for assisting with classroom operations including the planning and implementation of activities, maintaining the classroom environment and supervision of children. Must meet the Head Start Performance Standards to support the child's development and school readiness. Develop and maintain professional working relationships with families, partners, co-workers and supervisors.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE JOB:
- Responsible for following the teacher's lead and assisting with the daily classroom learning environment and implementation of the curriculum.
- Responsible for abiding by MVAC Policies, Head Start Performance Standards, and MN DHS Childcare Center Statutes and Rules.
- Responsible for completing paperwork and data entry accurately and in a timely manner according to program requirements and the forms routing checklist.

REQUIRED EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
Applicant must have a Bachelor of Science (BS) in Early Childhood, Associate of Applied Science in Early Childhood (AAS) or Center Child Development Associate (CDA) credential or be willing to obtain a degree within two years of hire date. This position requires strong computer, communication, and organizational skills. Bilingual beneficial.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
During your work hours you may be required to: Lift up to 50 pounds and carry up to 50 pounds; reach above shoulder level; bend/stoop; squat; crawl; climb; kneel; balance; push/pull; sit on the floor; find manipulation; simple and firm grasp; and must be ambulatory to move quickly in the even of an emergency.
