Triage Responsibilities
- Triage incoming phone calls according to protocol; elevate to RN or provider level, as necessary. Take messages or transfer calls as necessary or send telephone encounter to care team or provider / team member, as needed.
- Schedule urgent patient add-ons and telehealth appointments, as needed.
- Handle incoming medication refills and lab results.
- Ability to use good judgement and prioritize phone calls and patient concerns.
- Must be comfortable working independently and in conjunction with triage nurse (RN).
- Strong customer service skills and time-management skills.
- Excellent telephone skills and etiquette.
- Ability to work effectively and efficiently in a fast-paced setting.
- Exceptional communication skills; both written and verbal.
- Actively work Care Team telephone encounters; minimize the number of callbacks from other team members whenever possible.
- Must have experience with using an EMR (electronic medical record); eClinicalWorks experience a plus.
- Must always respect patient confidentiality; Maintain HIPAA regulations and the privacy practices.
