What are the responsibilities and job description for the Triage Navigator position at Minnesota Womens Care PA?
The Triage Navigator functions as an important member of the healthcare team by acting as a liaison for patients by efficiently and accurately triaging and routing incoming phone calls. The Triage Navigator performs in a manner consistent with MN Women’s Care mission, policies, and initiatives while always maintaining patient confidentiality.
- Triage incoming phone calls according to protocol; elevate to RN or provider level, as necessary. Take messages or transfer calls as necessary or send telephone encounter to care team or provider/team member, as needed.
- Schedule urgent patient add-ons and telehealth appointments, as needed.
- Handle incoming medication refills and lab results.
- Ability to use good judgement and prioritize phone calls and patient concerns.
- Must be comfortable working independently and in conjunction with triage nurse (RN).
- Strong customer service skills and time-management skills.
- Excellent telephone skills and etiquette.
- Ability to work effectively and efficiently in a fast-paced setting.
- Exceptional communication skills; both written and verbal.
- Actively work Care Team telephone encounters; minimize the number of callbacks from other team members whenever possible.
- Must have experience with using an EMR (electronic medical record); eClinicalWorks experience a plus.
- Must always respect patient confidentiality; Maintain HIPAA regulations and the privacy practices.
Essential Functions and Qualifications
- Certified Medical Assistant (preferred)
