Position Information
GENERAL DESCRIPTION:
The Resident Manager (RM) position is located in the on-campus apartments. It is a live-on position that serves as the housing contact in an apartment building. The RM is part of the residence life team, made up of student and professional staff that work together to make the on-campus living experience great.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:
- Assist residents with check-ins, check-outs, maintenance work orders, lock-outs, etc.
- Act as liaison for the Housing Office, which includes working in the Residence Life Office a few hours a week.
- Promote a safe and positive atmosphere in the building, through programming and visibility.
- Assist with enforcement of Minot State policies.
- Serve in a 24-hour on-call duty rotation with one other Resident Manager
- Attend Fall and Spring training sessions, staff meetings, one-on-ones, staff/professional development, and other events as assigned.
Required Competencies
CONTRACT TERM:
- Position starts beginning of summer term.
- The RM position is a 12-month year-round position. RM contracts are reviewed and renewed annually during the staff selection process in the Spring.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Must be an enrolled degree-seeking student at Minot State University. Graduate student status preferred.
- The Residence Life Office staff is supportive of the academic success of its employees. Continued employment is dependent on a 2.75 minimum GPA, and positive, significant progress toward a degree.
- RM staff meetings will be held on an as-needed basis. Attendance is required.
- During the academic year, work 5 hours per week in the Housing Office, during the summer 10 hours per week, and in the weeks in August leading up to residence hall move-in day you will be asked to work more hours per week to assist with the workload.
- RM’s are expected to abide by all terms listed in the lease agreement, University Policies, and support the decisions and actions of the Residence Life Staff.
