What’s This Job Is About?
We’re seeking a Director of Employee Total Rewards and Payroll to join our HR team. This individual contributor role is essential in ensuring accurate payroll processing, managing compensation plans, and overseeing employee benefits programs. In addition to being a key member of the HR team, you will work closely with , finance, and external vendors to support compliance, enhance efficiency, and deliver a seamless employee experience. You will take ownership of payroll and benefits operations while partnering with stakeholders to drive the organization’s commitment to equitable compensation and comprehensive benefits, ensuring we remain competitive in the marketplace.
What are Your Key Responsibilities?
Oversee Payroll Operations :
Manage and execute accurate and timely payroll processing, including regular, overtime, and special payments, across the US and Canada.
Manage and oversee third party vendors responsible for preparing and processing payroll in other global locations.
Troubleshoot payroll issues and ensure compliance with wage, hour, and tax regulations.
Conduct regular audits to maintain data accuracy and ensure payroll system integrity.
Prepare and review payroll tax filings, including W-2s, 1099s, and other compliance documents and the US and Canada
Lead the implementation of payroll-related policies and procedures across regions to ensure consistency and compliance with evolving legal and organizational standards.
HRIS, Reporting and Audits :
Ensure the accuracy and integrity of the data housed in ADP. Make coding and data updates as necessary. Responsible for reporting and data analysis.
Prepare and file required surveys and reports for SOC2, client requests, Dept of Labor, IRS (and the local equiavalents) including EEO reports.
Own the vendor relationship for plan audits, ensuring timely and accurate filing of 5500s and local equivalents.
Prepare ad hoc reporting based on requests from the Chief People Officer and other key stakeholders
Support Compensation Strategies :
Analyze job roles and salary structures to maintain equity and competitiveness.
Conduct market analysis and recommend salary adjustments based on benchmarking data.
Assist in the development and management of bonus and incentive programs.
Collaborate with leadership to implement changes that align with organizational budgets while meeting employee needs.
Develop and present compensation analyses and recommendations to senior leadership, ensuring alignment with the organization's overall total rewards strategy.
Administer Benefits Programs :
Serve as the primary point of contact for the broker relationship that supports the benefits offerings
Manage employee benefits programs, including health insurance, retirement plans, and wellness initiatives.
Coordinate annual open enrollment, employee communications, and enrollment audits.
Ensure compliance with regulations such as ACA, ERISA, FMLA, COBRA, and HIPAA as well as the local equivalents of same
Act as a resource for employees, addressing inquiries related to benefits and compensation.
Evaluate and recommend enhancements to the benefits program based on employee feedback, utilization trends, and competitive market practices.
Other Human Resources Responsibilities :
Conduct new hire orientation
Field inbound questions from employees related to compensation
Prepare and send confirmations of pay changes
What Makes You a Great Fit :
Experience : 10 years of experience in US payroll, compensation, or benefits administration, with proven expertise in administering payroll systems, ensuring compliance, and conducting audits. 5 experience in global payroll administration, including Canada, and with a preference for UK and India.
Technical Skills : Expert level skills in Excel, including pivot tables and complex formulas. Proficiency in HRIS and payroll systems, with an exceptionally strong understanding of payroll tax regulations, compensation analysis, and benefits administration; experience with ADP is a preferred.
Attention to Detail : Demonstrated ability to manage complex payroll and benefits tasks with precision, reviewing and synthesizing large amounts of data into actionable insights.
Communication Skills : Exceptional ability to explain compensation and benefits details clearly to employees while collaborating effectively with internal teams and external vendors.
Education : A bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or business is preferred but not required. Equivalent experience will also be considered.
Adaptability : Proven ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and adjust to shifting organizational needs.
