Chief Accounting Officer (CAO)
We are seeking a Chief Accounting Officer (CAO) to lead and oversee all aspects of our accounting and financial operations. As a key executive leader, you will be responsible for financial strategy, compliance, reporting, and team leadership. This role requires a hands-on, strategic thinker who can drive financial excellence while fostering a high-performing accounting team.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and oversee all accounting functions, ensuring accuracy, efficiency, and adherence to federal, state, and local regulations.
- Develop and mentor a team of 12-15 accounting professionals, fostering growth, collaboration, and operational excellence.
- Ensure full compliance with tax regulations by staying updated on all relevant laws and corporate policies.
- Manage the preparation and presentation of financial reports, including monthly, quarterly, and annual statements, while analyzing variances between actual and projected results.
- Oversee debt compliance, including formal monthly and quarterly filings as well as historical and projected covenant compliance.
- Serve as the primary financial liaison to executive leadership, providing insights and strategic recommendations based on financial data.
- Regularly review and validate financial statements, ensuring accuracy, integrity, and compliance with accounting standards.
- Act as the primary contact for external auditors, ensuring a smooth and transparent audit process.
- Oversee capital asset management, tax planning, and compliance, ensuring financial efficiency and long-term sustainability.
Qualifications & Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Economics.
- CPA certification required.
- 10 years of progressive accounting leadership experience, with at least 5 years in a senior accounting or executive role.
- Additional certifications such as CPE, CMA, CIA, or CISA are preferred.
- Experience in public accounting (Big 4 or Regional Accounting Firm) is highly desirable.
- Proven ability to develop and lead high-performing teams.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and strategic decision-making skills.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to engage effectively with executive leadership and external stakeholders.
