Summer Instructor – Medical & Jr. Medical Classes
MiraCosta College for Kids
Join our team this summer and inspire the next generation of medical professionals! MiraCosta College for Kids is looking for passionate and knowledgeable part-time instructors to teach our Medical Science courses, including Jr. Medical School (Ages 6-9) and Medical School (Ages 10-13).
Program Details:
- Schedule: Classes run from 9:00 AM – 12:00 PM or 1:00 PM – 4:00 PM each day.
- Location: MiraCosta College
- Duration: Employment is for 3 weeks June 23-27, July 7-11, and July 21-25
Course Descriptions:
Jr. Medical School (Ages 6-9)
Young learners will embark on an exciting journey through the world of medicine! This hands-on class introduces students to a variety of medical professions, including EMT, X-ray Technician, and Surgeon. Students will explore the human body, medical instruments, first aid, bandaging, and emergency response in a fun and engaging way. They'll gain confidence in handling basic medical situations and learn how to assist family and friends during accidents or disasters.
Medical School (Ages 10-13)
Older students will dive deeper into medical science, exploring various healthcare professions and real-world medical applications. They’ll gain hands-on experience with first aid techniques, bandaging, medical tools, and emergency response skills. In addition to learning about different medical fields, students will earn their CPR and first-aid certification, equipping them with valuable lifesaving skills.
Who We’re Looking For:
We are seeking engaging, experienced instructors with a strong background in medical science, healthcare, or related fields who can create a fun, hands-on learning environment for young students.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and deliver interactive, age-appropriate lesson plans focused on medical science concepts.
- Introduce students to basic anatomy, physiology, first aid, and healthcare principles in an engaging way.
- Foster a positive and encouraging classroom environment that promotes curiosity and collaboration.
- Use hands-on activities, demonstrations, and experiments to reinforce learning.
- Ensure the safety and well-being of all students during class activities.
- Administer CPR and first-aid certification training for Medical School students (ages 10-13).
- Collaborate with program staff to enhance the learning experience and support student success.
Qualifications:
- Certified CPR Instructor (Required).
- Minimum one year of teaching experience (formal or informal).
- Background in medical science, healthcare, or a related field (education, nursing, EMT, biology, etc.).
- Experience working with children and strong classroom management skills.
- Ability to develop engaging, hands-on lesson plans.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Commitment to creating a fun, dynamic, and educational experience.
- The applicant chosen will need to complete Livescan fingerprinting and a TB test.
Compensation & Benefits:
- Pay: $35.00 per hour
