PRN Behavioral Health Technician (BHT)

Hiring a PRN (as needed) for any or all of the following three (3) shifts:

Behavioral Health Technician - Day, Evening and/or Overnights

• Morning 8a-5p
• Evenings 3p-10p
• Overnights 10p-8a

Job Description and responsibilities are as follows:

Behavioral Health Technician (BHT)

The Behavioral Health Technician functions as an active part of the treatment team, providing continuous member care, supervision, interaction, and role modeling to ensure the success of our members.

Responsibilities:

• Implement the daily structure for our members, facilitate group discussions, ADL’s
• Complete progress notes and brief notes on members prior to end of shift
• Perform Crisis intervention, de-escalation and re-direction
• Create Incident, Death or Accident (IAD) reports
• Create Emergency Safety Response (ESR) reports
• Medication Management and Medication Administration for members
• Provide a safe and secure environment for our members through therapeutic supervision and actively participate in scheduled events and activities
• Provide positive role modeling which is consistent/compatible with the philosophy and beliefs of Miss A’s House
• Establish positive professional relationships with the members to identify positive strengths within the members and enhance positive change
• Help members identify the purpose behind their behaviors, what triggers the behaviors, and explore healthy and effective alternatives to deal with needs in daily encounters with members
• Assist members and actively participate with them in daily activities to achieve their treatment objectives as outlined in their treatment plan, in a culturally sensitive and strengths-based manner
• Transport members to appointments and outings
• Create and maintain responsibility charts to assist in members meeting short-term and long-term goals
• Assist members in selecting appropriate and successful coping skills fitting to their treatment plan
• Assist members and actively participate in daily tasks, such as cleaning rooms, homework, physical activities, meals, laundry, responsibility sheets, community service, and outings
• Flexibility in schedule and team player

Qualifications/Experience:

• Minimum High School diploma or GED
• Previous work with children/teens

Requirements

• Must be at least 21 years old
• Valid AZ drivers’ license or ID
• CPI and/or Prevention and Support (Can obtain after hire)
• Fingerprint Clearance Card
• 2-step Tuberculosis clearance
• Hands on CPR and First Aid (Can obtain after hire)
• Continuous training with Relias (Can obtain after hire)
• Sexualized Maladaptive Behavior training (Can obtain after hire)
• Blood-borne Pathogens (Can obtain after hire)
• Continuous training for job / skill development
• Positive and upbeat
• Able to function in a high stress environment
• Caring and compassionate
• Willingness to learn
• Trustworthy to uphold confidentiality – HIPPA

Overnight BHT Job Responsibilities:

• Maintain a high level of supervision while on shift performing welfare checks. Increased checks as needed will be vocalized case by case. Remain awake during overnight hours.
• Ensure safety of all members in Miss A’s BHRF with recorded hourly welfare checks
• Communicate with team on any needed heightened oversight of member’s expressing suicidal ideation, self-harm, hallucinations, AWOL risk, etc.
• Responsible for supportive oversight and behavior management of Miss A’s members
• Complete all overnight welfare checks accurately during shift and communicate with team any concerns of awake times of members
• Search backpacks for contraband, weapons, food, potential sharps, etc. Report any findings to management.
• Search bedrooms, closets, bathrooms, etc. for any contraband, weapons, food, potential sharps, etc. Report any findings to management.
• Ensure that all members are woken up at the appropriate times dependent on routine / structure of day
• Ensure all members are timely in completion of hygiene (unlocking hygiene closet for each member), medications, and structure of day. i.e. school bus pick up, appointments, etc.
• Ensure that staff communication board and daily schedule is being adhered to
• Ensure all members dietary needs are met in the morning and/or met at school upon arrival
• Ensure medications prepared, administered, and logged accurately and at the appropriate times
• Take temperature and log temperatures of all members each morning.
• Ensure medications are stocked in main box, print new medication sheets as needed, communicate low medication count with management.
• Ensure all household cleaning/disinfecting is completed on shift, completing all task on the nightly cleaning list as well as sanitizing.
• Ensure deep cleaning of monthly cleaning task is completed to its entirety.
• Follow state regulations of all chemicals and cleaning supplies being locked up at all times.
• Follow state regulations of all medications being locked up at all times
• Assist in mandated requirements of state and governing board to remain compliant i.e. all garbage’s have bags, beds have waterproof mattress covers, all showers/bathtub have slip resistant mats, hygiene remains locked up after use and not left in bathrooms.
• Ensure members make beds, clean rooms, closets prior to leaving BHRF in morning
• Contact manager on call for any emergency/crisis i.e. - AWOL, injuries, etc.
• Complete all required incident reports of events that transpired during the shift
• Complete other duties as assigned by the managers of Miss A’s.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: From $20.00 per hour

Expected hours: No less than 1 per week
