Stepping Stone of San Diego aims to help end the stigma surrounding recovery from alcohol and substance abuse as well as remind people struggling with addiction and their loved ones that help is available and no one has to deal with this issue alone Our mission is to create improve and deliver alcohol and other drug treatment HIV and other health interventions recovery education and prevention services specializing in the challenges of the gay lesbian bisexual and transgender LGBT communities of the San Diego region Position Summary The Residential Registered SUD Counselor supports residents through quality group and individual SUD counseling as well as the completion of all required documentation This position is an overnight shift Hours are 1100pm 730am This position reports to the Lead Counselor Compensation Salary Range 2880 to 3420 based on registrationcertification level Registered Counselor 2880Certification level 1 3060Certification level 2 3240Certification level 3 3420Essential Function Updates all resident daily group and counseling session logs and UA logsCompletes walk through of Residential Program grounds every 60 minsCompletes assigned tasks given by lead counselor or Program ManagerComplete and document provision of resident medication in a non medical settingHelp resolve interpersonal issues between and among residentsComplete all resident documentation according to county state and agency guidelinesSupport lead counselors with completion of resident drug screens both monthly and as neededReport issues that endanger the safety or wellbeing of clients or colleagues to the program managerComplete all trainings as requiredComplete supervision as needed with lead counselor or program managerMaintain all confidentiality and privacy standards of client protected health information and other information and materials in accordance with company policies and procedures and applicable regulations and laws according to HIPAA & 42 CFROther duties as assignedMinimum Qualifications Maintain active registration or through CCAPP CAADE or CADTP with completion and certification within 5 years of hireAssure timely renewal of registrationEnrolled in and attending educational courses for certification if not currently certifiedCurrent CPRFirst Aid Certification or within 90 days of hireASAM Training or within 10 days of hireUnderstanding of the social determinants of health impacting LGBTQI communitiesCultural competency and humility in working with LGBTQIA communitiesStrong verbal communication skillsAbility to handle multiple tasks and shifting priorities within a residential settingExcellent time management skillsAbility to complete tasks in a timely manner according to program expectationsAbility to meet deadlines with documentation according to state county and program expectationsValid drivers license and reliable transportationSuccessful completion of a criminal background checkPreferred Qualifications Active Certification through CCAPP CAADE or CADTP1 to 2 years experience serving clients in a human services settingPrevious experience working in an AOD residential program settingExperience with electronic health recordsExperience with Optum SUDPOH county forms used for AOD documentationWritten and spoken bilingual fluency in Spanish and EnglishEnvironmental Factors and ConditionsPhysical Requirements While primarily working indoors counselors also work with clients outdoorsRegularly lift 15 pounds and occasionally up to 50 poundsStepping Stone of San Diego provides equal employment opportunities to all employees and applicants for employment and prohibits discrimination and harassment of any type without regard to race color religion age sex national origin disability status genetics protected veteran status sexual orientation gender identity or expression or any other characteristic protected by federal state or local laws
