The job will be 16 hours per weekend, Saturdays, Sundays from 8am to 4pm, including holidays. GENERAL DESCRIPTION
Provide direct services to survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault including answering hotline, completing intake, providing and coordinating resources, transporting and advocating for victims in the restorative process. (6.08 hours/direct service).
OTHER DUTIES
- Provide direct services to residents in emergency shelter setting for survivors of domestic violence.
- Provide telephone assessments/service eligibility, crisis intervention and referrals on the 24- hour emergency domestic violence/sexual assault crisis line for those seeking shelter and other services.
- Ensure that hotline calls are properly documented and logged and keep up to date Shift Reports.
- Complete the intake process for client admittance including data collection and reporting.
- Orient residents to the Shelter and ensure that the daily living needs of the residents are met, including access to food, medications, personal care items, coordination of transportation and accompaniment needs of the residents.
- Assist residents with applications, developing resumes, phone calls, relevant resources etc. (information and referral) and then document provided assistance for the Case Manager.
- Ensure the well-being of residents in a comfortable and safe communal living environment.
- Supervise general house operation during the shift in order to ensure quality service delivery (e.g. assign chores and ensure chores are completed).
- Must be able to lift 25 pounds (i.e. lifting twin size bed mattresses for cleaning purposes).
- Moderate cleaning and housekeeping.
- Sort donated shelter items.
- Ensure appropriate records are maintained regarding clients and service delivery.
- Ensure that all needed repairs are brought to the attention of the Shelter Manager or Victim Services Director.
- Attend all meetings as directed by your supervisor.
- Perform other duties as assigned by Victim Services Director or the Executive Director.
WORK EXPERIENCE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS
- Knowledge of dynamics of domestic violence, sexual assault, persons with special needs, community resources, and crisis intervention techniques required.
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to establish rapport with diverse populations needed.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and ability to work flexible schedule of weekends and night shifts required.
- Ability to speak Spanish desired, but not required.
- Basic computer skills.
EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
High School Diploma/GED required. Associates or Bachelor's Degree in Psychology, Sociology, or Social Work preferred but not required. In lieu of formal education, at least 20 hours of education is required in crime victim’s related field.
