Job Summary and Qualifications
Designs and assures implementation of risk identification and risk reduction strategies for the organization and corporate affiliates. Assigns counsel and prepares draft responses to interrogatories, production of documents, and participates in witness preparation, depositions, and trial and mediation strategies with assigned counsel in defense of lawsuits. Reviews, investigates and manages complaints, claims and grievances including setting of reserves and negotiation of settlements within defined parameters. Provides education, consultation and guidance regarding risk management and regulatory requirements for the organization and corporate affiliates. Participates in policy development, review assuring compliance with state and federal regulations and sound risk management practices.
Essential Accountabilities:
- Provides timely, appropriate and accurate information to the organization and corporate affiliates regarding risk management issues.
- Designs and participates in risk reduction activities for the organization and corporate affiliates.
- Manages complaints and claims for the organization and corporate affiliates.
- Assist in defense of lawsuits.
- Participates in Hospital Peer Review Committees
- Supports Corporate Risk Management Activities for organization and corporate affiliates.
- Other Duties as Assigned
What qualifications you will need:
Required Education: Associates Degree
Preferred Education: Bachelors of Science in Nursing
Required Certification: Current CPHRM designation or obtain within 1 year of hire
Preferred License: Current North Carolina RN License
Required Experience: 5 years acute care hospital experience and/or 5 years physician practice Risk Management. Certified Professional Healthcare Risk Manager (CPHRM) with experience in acute care risk management or physician practice Risk Management.
Preferred Experience: Claims management, legal experience
