What are the responsibilities and job description for the Safety Technician MS position at Mission Solar Energy?
Key Functions
- Activities include but are not limited to risk identification and management, incident reporting and investigation, safety training, waste minimization, pollution prevention and control, various compliance activities and implementation of various aspects of management systems in all areas of Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS).
- Conducts inspections and assessments.
- Recordkeeping and other general administrative duties are likely.
- Supports Business Acquisition and Execution, as well as shared services.
- Provides varying levels of interface and support to each of these groups through technical advice, data interpretation, personnel development, and process improvement. Inspects work areas and equipment to ensure compliance with company, state, and federal safety policies and regulations.
- Responsibilities also include Incident Commander on Emergency Response Team (ERT), documenting safety inspections, citing dangerous areas/procedures and recommending corrective procedures and maintaining safety equipment supply and availability.
- Have knowledge commonly-used concepts, practices, and procedures within the safety field.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience
- Associate’s degree in a related field or an equivalent combination of education and experience, and 2 years directly related experience is required.
- Professional registration or certification preferred.
Skills and Abilities
- Good computer and oral and written communication skills required, as well as good organizational abilities.
- Have a working knowledge of Microsoft Office and Adobe Acrobat programs.
- Requires knowledge of Company Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) programs, policies, procedures and processes, as well as working knowledge of applicable Mission Solar Energy manufacturing process.
- Be able to conduct Safety briefing and lectures.
- Position may include physical challenges whereby “A” or “B” Level chemical suits with a respirator are worn for evaluation or chemical clean-up which would put you in a dangerous environment.
- The ability to work on night and/or weekend shifts with overtime opportunities available.
Physical Demands
- Typical demands include those of an office environment including typing, sitting and looking at a computer monitor for extended periods.
- Occasionally lift, carry, move and/or position objects weighing up to 51 pounds unassisted, when performing essential job functions.
- May need to bend, stoop, crouch, ascend, and/or descend on a regular basis, when performing essential job functions.
- Constantly observes, assesses, inspects, communicates, detects, conveys, and exchanges information, when performing essential job functions.
