Join a difference making team that is part of Huntington Ingalls Industries, Mission Technologies (HII-MT). We are seeking a Tax Accountant to join our team! This position will be in the Virginia Beach, VA area.
The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing the company's indirect (business license, sales and use, personal property, unclaimed) tax returns by examining accounts and records and computing tax returns according to prescribed rates, laws, and regulations. The Tax Accountant will also audit financial records to determine tax liability, prepare claims for tax refunds, maintain tax records, prepare routine and special tax reports, and advise management regarding business, internal programs, and activities as they relate to tax matters.

- Prepare state, and local tax returns by examining accounts and records and computing tax returns according to prescribed rates, laws, and regulations.
- Audit financial records to determine tax liability and identify any discrepancies or errors.
- Prepare claims for tax refunds and maintain tax records.
- Prepare routine and special tax reports as required by management.
- Advise management regarding business, internal programs, and activities as they relate to tax matters.
- Keep up to date with changes in tax laws and regulations and ensure compliance with all applicable laws and regulations.
- Provide support to other departments as needed regarding tax matters.
- 0 years experience with Bachelors in related field or a High School Diploma or equivalent and 4 years relevant experience.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

- Proficient in Microsoft Office.
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or related field.
