Mission Valley Bank is seeking an experienced professional Relationship Manager whose primary objective is to build profitable banking relationships while acting as a Trusted Advisor. The Relationship Manager is responsible for managing an existing loan and deposit portfolio, prospecting new loan and deposit relationships, cross selling loan and deposit productions, and underwriting loans.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Develop, manage and enhance a strong working relationship with the existing commercial loan portfolio clientele through periodic meetings.
- Meet and coordinate with clients the timely renewal of loans, signing of documents and ongoing financial statement reporting requirements.
- Provide complete financial packages to the underwriting team and collaborate for a timely response to clients and prospects in the loan production process.
- Follow loans from application to closing to ensure complete documentation, answering of questions and timely declines or approvals.
- Review financial statements provided for viability in moving forward with loan requests through a cash flow analysis as appropriate to the requested credit facility. Forward to underwriting for recommended credit facilities or decline loans based on the initial review of findings.
- Complete necessary internal forms and follow procedures to ensure the accuracy and compliance of loan processes and policies.
- Maintain credit files in the prescribed manner with current and accurate financial statements, documents, correspondence, insurance, site visits and other necessary documentation.
- Spread financial statements and prepare Credit Authorizations as needed to assist the team in meeting the prospect or client's needs.
- Achieve individual and team goals by developing new business relationships through referrals and calling efforts.
Build existing client relationships through cross selling all MVB products and services. - Achieve annual loan and deposit production goals through networking, client meetings, referrals, and outside business development.
- Demonstrate sales and marketing abilities, including cross selling to both clients and prospects.
Mastery of persuasion, diplomacy, negotiation and closing skills. - Develop and maintain an appropriate ongoing sales pipeline.
- Utilize Pipeline software to manage and track all sales prospects and activities.
- Participate in local professional and community events and associations to develop and expand network of contacts.
- Supervise and coordinate the training of supporting administrative staff to assist in their duties and responsibilities and delegate accordingly.
- Collaborate with Branch staff, Credit Administration and Underwriting, Sales and Marketing teams to ensure a superior level of quality service, product delivery and responsiveness to client needs.
- Collaborate with MVB associates to seamlessly deliver one voice to our customers.
- Bring any suspicious activity to the attention of a supervisor, or the Bank Secrecy Act Officer.
- Follow all Bank policies and procedures to ensure compliance with all laws and regulations.
- Understanding of and compliance with regulatory guidelines including but not limited to CRA, BSA, GLBA, etc. as the regulations pertain to the employee's job function.
- Other duties as assigned.
Basic Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance or Accounting preferred or equivalent experience.
- Minimum of 10 years' of post qualification experience.
- Formal credit training with ability to structure financial solutions.
- Demonstrated ability to set realistic expectations, problem solve and negotiate.
- Exceptional customer service, sales and relationship building skills.
- Must be able to work autonomously in making sound business decisions.
- Must be capable of working well independently and as part of a team and exercising appropriate level of authority commensurate with experience and responsibility
- High level working knowledge of use of PC, including Microsoft Excel, Word,
- Strong general banking experience to include client service issues and overall bank operations.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including ability to deal professionally with branch issues, problems, and questions.
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy; good organizational, research and follow-up skills.
- Ability to interact with all levels of clients, staff, and management.
- Ability to work successfully in a deadline driven, team environment

Physical Demands / Work Environment
This is primarily a sedentary position that requires extensive computer work.
