Principal Responsibilities:
The non-profit accountant performs a variety of accounting tasks to assist the Chief Financial Officer in managing the accounting functions for the organization. Responsibilities include developing and executing various financial processes, including full cycle accounting, month-end closings, managing banking relationships and monthly reconciliations, recording income, managing payments for ministry partners, applying Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), and ensuring appropriate control procedures are followed.

Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in accounting, finance, or a related field
- At least 5 years experience in nonprofit, full-cycle accounting
- In-Depth knowledge of GAAP, especially as it applies to nonprofits
- Extensive experience in general ledger functions and month-end close
- Experience with and an understanding of fund/reserve accounting
- Advanced use of Quickbooks Online
- Advanced use of Microsoft Office products, specifically Excel
- Proficiency in donor management software, such as Bloomerang is a huge plus
- Demonstrate organizational and time management skills
- Ability to follow policies, procedures, and regulations
- High level of accuracy and attention to detail
- Adept at critical thinking and problem-solving skills
- Strong oral and written communication
- Strong technology skills
What You Will Do:
- Assist the CFO in transitioning MVI from Quickbooks Enterprise to Quickbooks Online
- Assits the CFO in developing new processes and procedures for the account department
- Assist in managing the accounting of the organization, including personnel and volunteers
- Maintain GAAP and internal controls for compliance and protection of assets
- Verify donation coding and oversee entry into the donor management system
- Oversee bank account and credit card monthly reconciliations
- Manage online donations for processing, entry, and receipting, including year-end
- Develop and maintain accounting Standard Operating Procedures
- Manage deferred revenue accounts with fund accounting processes
- Oversee yearly preparation and remittance of Form 1099/1096
- Actively involved with the annual external audit
- Other duties to complement the work of the team and other departments
