Judy Retterath Withdrawal Management Center (formerly "Mission Detox") opened in 1978 as Minnesota's first licensed detoxification program. Position Summary: The SUD (Substance Use Disorder) Technician is the first line of support to all patients through an initial phone screening and preliminary client intake processes. As a collaborative multi-disciplinary team member, the SUD Technician supports the overall clinic operations and contributes to the welcoming and non-judgmental clinic climate. As directed by the Responsible Person (LPN/RN) on duty, the SUD Technician conducts regular client well-being checks and vital signs and coordinates food, coffee, and snack service for clients.
Position Responsibilities:
- Be sensitive to the diverse backgrounds of patients and their families, and act in ways that project fairness and equality.
- Be sensitive to the mental health needs and stressors impacting patients and provide person-centered patient support during their managed withdrawal.
- Facilitate clinical operations, including phone screening, meal, and snack services, greeting patients, preliminary intake processes, and preparing high-quality and welcoming sleeping/healing spaces for all clients.
- Admit and discharge patients according to established procedures in an accurate and timely manner.
- Collect patient data and insurance information in the record using the Electronic Health Records database.
- Orient patients to unit rules, procedures, and Client Rights.
- Observe and chart patient behaviors.
- Conduct routine checks of the facility and patients.
- Follow the nurse's directions in carrying out nursing procedures and participate in programming as requested, including routine vital checks of patients.
- Attend all staff meetings, in-service training, and quarterly emergency procedure reviews.
- Actively participate in shift change reports.
Required Experience and Qualifications:
- Be at least 18 years of age. High school diploma or GED preferred.
- Previous experience in an addiction treatment facility or experience working in the substance use disorder and mental health field is a plus.
- Upon employment, successful completion of Judy Retterath Withdrawal Management Center training, including the ability to perform basic health assessment, first aid, client care functions, adolescent development, and special needs of seniors.
- Computer proficiency is required, including the ability to use e-mail, navigate the internet, and complete basic data entry in an electronic health record system.
- Ability to work well with people from diverse racial, cultural, social, and economic backgrounds.
Salary: The salary range is $17.00 - 21.00/hr. with differentials for the following shifts:
Evening Weekdays $1.00
Overnight Weekdays $2.00
AM Weekends $0.75
Evening Weekends $2.00
Overnight Weekends $3.00
Salary commensurate with qualifications and experience.
Shifts Available: Evenings - 3pm to 11:30pm. Every Tuesday with alternating Friday and Monday shifts. No weekends.
