The Mississippi Children’s Museum – Meridian seeks energetic, outgoing individuals who want to work in a fun, educational, fast paced environment. The Guest Services and Volunteer Manager plays a key role in managing, training, and scheduling Guest Services Associates and Volunteers, utilizing museum software for tracking and record keeping, assisting with member and partner events, and supporting the Director of Museum Experiences with projects and goals for each year. This is a full-time position with benefits requiring 40 hours and some weekends. The Guest Services and Volunteer Manager reports directly to the Director of Museum Experiences.
Guest Services - Responsibilities and Duties:
- Assist the Director of Museum Experiences with job recruiting and hiring.
- Provide quality training to Guest Services Associates as relates to their job description and responsibilities.
- Maintain full understanding of employee handbooks and job descriptions.
- Create the Guest Services Associates weekly schedule, taking into consideration time off requests and the staffing needs of the museum each day.
- Assist with the management of membership records and files.
- Balance cash drawers at the beginning and end of each day using proper cash handling procedures.
- Assist with petty cash management on a weekly basis.
- Demonstrate hospitality to children and their caregivers by greeting visitors, being knowledgeable about daily programming, and answering questions about the museum.
- Assist with scheduling and facilitation of birthday parties while on shift.
- Support the Director of Museum Experiences with projects and goals for the year.
Volunteer – Responsibilities and Duties:
- Attend and seek out recruiting opportunities and events throughout the year to grow the museum’s volunteer base.
- Review and approve all volunteer applications.
- Ensure all volunteers receive quality training prior to their first shift on the floor.
- Keep track of volunteer hours and reporting.
- Schedule volunteers for signature events and daily programming as needed.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Minimum of three-year retail, sales, or customer service experience.
- Experience managing or leading a team in a customer service or related field.
- Ability to adapt to changes in the work environment and effectively address conflict in a professional manner.
- Excellent interpersonal and verbal communication skills.
- Commitment to excellent customer service and ability to work in a team.
- High comfort level working with children and diverse populations.
- The ability to work some weekends and holidays.
- College Degree Preferred.
Salary : $32,000 - $35,000
