Mississippi Food Network (MFN) has been feeding Mississippians since 1984. MFN distributes more than 1.5 million pounds of food and feeds more than 150,000 every month — or a total of 1.8 million people per year. MFN takes donations from multiple sources and distributes food and goods through 430 member agencies. They, in turn, distribute to recipients in their own communities. Our mission is to change lives by fighting hunger today and feeding hope for a healthier tomorrow.


POSITION SUMMARY

Responsible for prompt answering of the main phone line for the food bank and accurately directing Familiar with & abide by all AIB regulations & food safety compliance.


RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Primarily responsible for providing information to individuals inquiring about food assistance.
  • Provide direct customer service to MFN partner agencies including responding to questions and requests for information.
  • Assist with the daily processing of agency orders placed through the online ordering system.
  • Assist in collecting information from agencies when needed.
  • Recognize trends in types of food that agencies request and recommend improvements in products and services provided.
  • Be familiar with & abide by all AIB regulations & food safety compliance.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the Director of Agency Relations.


QUALIFICATIONS

  • High School diploma or equivalent (GED)
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, ability to work with a diverse group of people, commitment to food banking, and the Mississippi Food Network’s mission to end hunger in Mississippi.
  • Computer proficiency in Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Minimum of 1-2 years in an office support environment including data entry, processing, and customer support.
  • Knowledge of the operation of general office equipment; fax, copier, etc.
  • Ability to address member agency concerns through an effective customer support approach.
  • Ability to complete work in an accurate, effective, and timely manner.
