Overview:
The Field Director at Mississippi Votes plays a pivotal role in leading and managing the organization's grassroots efforts to drive voter registration, engagement, education, and mobilization. This individual will be responsible for overseeing a team of field coordinators, ensuring the successful execution of campaigns, and achieving organizational goals related to voter participation. The Field Director will balance both high-touch engagement, including canvassing, training, and political education, as well as high-tech digital mobilization strategies to maximize the impact of Mississippi Votes' initiatives.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and execute a comprehensive field plan that focuses on increasing voter turnout among voters ages 18-45.
- Identify and recruit volunteer leaders and coordinate their activities to implement the field plan.
- Work closely with the data team to ensure data collection and accurate representation of registered voters.
- Develop and implement a canvassing program that reaches targeted voters in a timely and effective manner.
- Organize community education forums and voter registration drives.
- Coordinate election protection work to ensure voters' rights are protected and the election process is fair and accessible.
- Develop and implement digital and online engagement strategies, including geo targeted ads, usage of the Voter Access Network to track voters and engage them, digital search engine optimization, and providing voters with tools to make their plans to vote.
- Track and analyze field campaign metrics to evaluate progress and adjust strategies as needed.
- Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local laws and regulations related to voter outreach and engagement.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent experience.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in grassroots organizing and field campaigning, preferably in a nonprofit or political environment.
- Experience in data management and analysis, preferably with Voter Access Network or a similar voter engagement platform.
- Demonstrated success in developing and executing complex field campaigns.
- Strong organizational and leadership skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to effectively communicate with volunteers, staff, and external stakeholders.
- Knowledge of Mississippi politics and community dynamics is preferred.
- Commitment to social justice and advancing the organization's mission.
Position Details:
- Annual salary of $75,000 based on experience
- Position based in Jackson, Mississippi
