About Missoula Interfaith Collaborative (MIC)
Founded in 2011, MIC is a diverse alliance of 35 faith institutions and community organizations who come together to pool resources and build collective power to address the most pressing needs of the community. Using broad based community organizing methods, we challenge the community to tackle issues, train leaders from everyday citizens, and work collectively to improve the world we live in.

In addition to our community organizing efforts, MIC operates three programs:

* Family Promise, which helps operate an emergency shelter for up to 31 families.
* The Housing Advocate Network, a coalition of volunteers who walk alongside and
support people experiencing homelessness and housing insecurity.
* Missoula Works, our community’s only supportive staffing agency.

Job Objective
A unique blend of social work, community-building, volunteer coordination and program administration, the Family Houseless Prevention & Stabilization Coordinator is tasked with:

1. Assisting qualifying families at risk of houselessness avoid moving into the Family Housing Center as per program stipulations and utilizing funds restricted for this work.

2. Assisting qualifying families leaving the Family Housing Center with developing long-term housing stability as per program stipulations and utilizing funds restricted for this work.

3. Cultivating, overseeing and supporting a network of volunteer leaders to assist with these objectives.

4. Providing direct service support to participating families utilizing funds restricted for family prevention and stabilization work.

5. Ensuring program fidelity to the organizational mission, grantor rules and requirements and centering a “community of belonging” as a primary focus of prevention and stabilization work.

Reports to: Director of Housing Advocate Network

Position details: Full-time, salary $37,440-$52,000. Exempt, non-union position. Benefits include HRA reimbursement and generous PTO and holiday pay.

Duties:

• Help build, lead and support network of everyday community members in taking an active role in addressing family houselessness in Missoula.
• Divert qualifying families from entering the Family Housing Center using techniques and funding restricted to this effort.
• Provide long-term stabilization supports qualifying families departing the Family Housing Center using techniques and funding restricted to this effort.
• Facilitate, oversee and support participant services, specifically ensuring families and children are supported in avoiding houselessness or congregate shelter setting by supporting and fostering safe, healthy and nurturing environments.
• Cultivating positive landlord/property management relationships to ensure adequate and successful prevention/stabilization services.
• Coordinate program functions and operations, including at MIC offices, the Family Housing Center and other venues, including participant homes, as appropriate.
• Assist with recruiting and enrolling eligible families.
• Provide best practice programming to support economic and housing stability and basic needs stabilization services for participant families.
• Understanding of community and agency services that can support effort.
• Ability to create, assess, modify and evaluate housing plans with participating families and implement with the support of participating volunteers.
• Track data related to the impact of the program.
• Participate in building community of belonging between and among participants and volunteers.
• Participate in identifying leaders among program volunteers and participants to support program growth and success in conjunction with both the HAN leadership team and the Family Promise steering committee.

Required Experience and abilities:

• Proven leadership, with strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to cultivate and maintain strong working relationships with a wide-ranging group of individuals and entities.
• Understanding of, or willing to learn, knowledge of issues faced by client base, including housing, employment, childhood development, and willingness to learn or utilize evidence-based practices to assess, support and refer for appropriate external services.
• Willing and able to work with people from a variety of racial, cultural, and economic backgrounds with various lifestyles, sexual orientations, criminal background and of all ages and genders.
• Ability to maintain strict confidentiality and extreme discretion in frequently working with highly sensitive information.
• Sound and strategic judgment necessary to make critical procedural decisions.

Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and other Abilities

• Experience or degree in social work, counseling, family life education, human services, case management or related field, or willingness to develop basic clinical and relational skills.
• Experience with, or interest in, volunteer management.
• Experience with, or interest in, working with families and children.
• Demonstrates comfort working alongside faith-based organizations.
• Awareness of mission and values of Missoula Interfaith Collaborative, the Housing Advocate Network and Family Promise.
• Ability to work effectively with populations who have experienced being unhoused, vulnerability, developmental delays, compromised mental wellness, brain injuries, addictions and/or other conditions or situations that have impacted housing stability.
• Solution-focused, detailed-oriented, with strong organizational skills and capacity to develop and manage systems that ensure accurate and timely follow-up and documentation.
• Action-oriented and innovative approach to program planning; ability to work effectively in collaboration with diverse groups of people having passion, idealism, integrity, positive attitude, mission-driven, and self-directed.
• Knowledge of community resources and referral networks, or ability to develop this knowledge, and the capacity to identify and develop relationships with new sources and services as they become available.

Physical Demands, Environmental Work Conditions, Equipment
Physical demands include sitting, keyboarding, and mouse use for extended periods. Equipment use includes driving company vehicle, office equipment including monitor, keyboard, and phone. Use of a company vehicle and driving short distances is sometimes required.
