What are the responsibilities and job description for the Behavioral Health Technician position at Missouri Behavioral Health?
JOB PURPOSE: The recovery care advocate ensures client safety and engagement with the clinical program through professionalism, purpose, and ethical operational support.
PRIMARY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Ensuring all clients are in attendance for regularly scheduled hours, including: completing hourly rounds, contacting missing clients, and requesting documentation for missed sessions (e.g., doctor notes, etc.).
2. Completing supervised UA/BA for all clients on a scheduled basis, including: collecting and supervising UA samples, communicating with the third-party lab, and ensuring clients complete lab requisition forms.
3. Acting as a point of contact for clients needing direction or support, including: orienting and welcoming new admits into the program, answering questions, and providing support.
4. Adheres to facility cleaning protocols, including: maintaining the cleanliness of the group rooms and office.
5. Providing client crisis support, including: ACA blocking/Intervention, intervening and supporting clients during crises, calling emergency services, making recommendations for support, and de-escalting clients.
6. Fostering a safe environment for clients and staff, including: using professional communication, managing one’s emotions, and reporting any client safety concerns to HR.
7. Ensure the safe transport of all clients to and from scheduled groups, to scheduled doctor appointments, or to other appointments as directed and approved by the program director.
8. Fostering a safe environment for clients and staff, including: listening to appropriate music while transporting, ensuring all passengers are wearing seatbelts, and ensuring no vaping or smoking in the vans.
9. Adheres to client confidentiality standards including, knowledge of state and federal confidentiality laws (e.g., HIPAA); and completing required training.
10. Maintaining strong professional boundaries with clients and staff including, capability of drawing boundaries; recognizing boundary breaches; notifying staff of potential boundary breaches; and completing boundary training.

4. Employee provides individual counseling, case management, skills training, and facilitates educational, skill development and counseling groups as assigned and properly and promptly charts these activities in client records
5. Employee works cooperatively with other community resources and referral sources to coordinate services to clients.
6. QUANTITY AND QUALITY OF WORK – Cares about the quality and accuracy of work being produced. Accepts responsibility for completing job tasks. Uses time productively and efficiently.
