What are the responsibilities and job description for the PARKING OFFICER position at Missouri S&T?
The Missouri S&T Parking Operations Officer plays a vital role in ensuring compliance with parking regulations, maintaining parking facilities and equipment, and supporting campus safety and event operations. This position involves operating vehicles, walking, enforcing parking rules, assisting with customer inquiries, and collaborating closely with the Police Department and Parking Manager. Parking Officers operate independently, exercising sound judgment and initiative while performing their duties with minimal supervision.
Key Responsibilities:
Parking Enforcement
- Operate a university vehicle safely to patrol parking lots
- Walk in university parking lots to issue tickets, in all weather conditions
- Use parking software to issue parking citations for violations
- Boot and/or tow vehicles, as necessary
- Conduct regular safety checks across campus
Facility Maintenance
- Maintain parking meters, including coin collection, repairs, mechanism replacements, and functionality checks
- Manage garage equipment by troubleshooting paper jams, replacing rolls, lifting gates, and assisting customers with QR codes
- Clean garage screens daily
Customer Assistance
- Assist walk-in customers and answer phone inquiries in the office
- Provide parking support for campus events, including setting up cones, barricades, and traffic control
- Help visitors navigate parking facilities, including lots and the subsurface parking garage
Administrative Duties
- Stay updated on Missouri S&T Parking Operations Rules and Regulations
- Collaborate with the Parking Manager on event planning and execution
- Enter and submit timesheets accurately
- Complete required online training
- Monitor and respond to work emails promptly
- Maintain and properly use parking enforcement and safety equipment
- Maintain clean workstation, vehicle, and uniform

Minimum Qualifications
- A high school diploma or an equivalent combination of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary
- A valid driver's license
- This position requires physical stamina to walk long distances and lift 50-70 pounds daily and is subject to seasonal weather conditions
Preferred Qualifications
- Familiarity with parking management systems and campus operations is a plus.
- This position is integral to maintaining a safe, organized, and customer-friendly parking experience on campus. Parking Officers are detail-oriented, skilled in multitasking, work independently, and thrive in a collaborative environment.
Anticipated Hiring Range
The anticipated hiring range for this position has been established as $15.50 to $16.00 hourly.
Salary is determined by a variety of factors, including but not limited to, the individual’s particular combination of education, skills, and experience, as well as organizational requirements.
