General Function
The Community Relations Coordinator – West Plains works collaboratively with the designated West Plains representative to develop and implement programs and events that inform and engage the Missouri University-West Plains ( MSU -WP) campus and community.
This position collaborates with the Division for University Advancement and MSU -WP campus partners in achieving campus goals. Assists the Director or other supervisor with the department’s administrative activities and coordinates various administrative processes and projects. This position provides the full range of administrative support activities for a department and generally has responsibility for several established and ongoing complex and/or difficult processes unique to the department in addition to general administrative support for the department. This position will also serve as building coordinator of the Richards House.
Description Of Primary Duties
The Community Relations Coordinator – West Plains works collaboratively with the designated West Plains representative to develop and implement programs and events that inform and engage the Missouri University-West Plains ( MSU -WP) campus and community.
This position collaborates with the Division for University Advancement and MSU -WP campus partners in achieving campus goals. Assists the Director or other supervisor with the department’s administrative activities and coordinates various administrative processes and projects. This position provides the full range of administrative support activities for a department and generally has responsibility for several established and ongoing complex and/or difficult processes unique to the department in addition to general administrative support for the department. This position will also serve as building coordinator of the Richards House.
Minimum Acceptable Qualifications
Education: An Associate’s degree is required. A Bachelor’s degree is preferred. An equivalent combination of years of experience and education may be considered for substitution of educational requirements.
Experience: At least one year of experience organizing and coordinating events, such as arts events, university events, festivals, workshops, public relations activities, and fundraising initiatives.
Skills: Exceptional interpersonal and effective oral and written communication skills are required. Must have strong decision-making skills, the ability to prioritize tasks, and ability to schedule and meet deadlines, and work independently. Computer proficiency, particularly in use of word processing, and an understanding of public relations and customer service practices and principles are required.
Effort: Must be able to lift and carry materials weighing five to twenty-five pounds.
Other: Must have a valid driver’s license. Must be able to travel out of town occasionally to assist with events. Willing to work flexible hours including evenings and weekends at events.
