Job Description

Missouri University of Science and Technology (Missouri S& T, formerly University of Missouri-Rolla) Department of Business and Information Technology seeks to fill a tenure-track Assistant Professor position in Information Science & Technology beginning in Fall 2025. In alignment with the department's strategic growth areas, preferred teaching and research interests include enterprise resource planning, AI-enabled business process engineering, business analytics, information visualization, blockchain, cloud computing, data engineering, data warehousing, and/or Smart Factory.

The normal teaching load is two courses per semester. The candidate is expected to provide high-quality instruction and research, participate in developing the Information Science & Technology program in the department, play a major role in the development of programs, advise students, and establish and maintain professional relationships.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • PhD or DBA in Management Information Systems, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a closely associated academic area
  • Knowledge and skills with ERP systems (SAP, MS Dynamics); programming languages (such as: C#, Python, Java, R); and/or databases/data warehouses

Desired Qualifications:

  • PhD or DBA that meets the minimum qualifications and is from an AACSB accredited institution when the degree is from a business school.
  • A background in information systems with an emphasis in enterprise resource planning
  • Evidence of excellence in teaching enterprise resource planning, business analytics, information visualization, blockchain, cloud computing, data engineering, data warehousing, and/or Smart Factory, or related courses at undergraduate and graduate levels.
  • Experience in teaching online or distance classes.
  • Commitment and demonstrable ability to be a productive scholar.
  • Strong interest in research and teaching in enterprise resource planning, AI-enabled business process engineering, business analytics, information visualization, blockchain, cloud computing, data engineering, data warehousing, and/or Smart Factory.
  • Excellent communication and ability to work effectively with diverse groups.

ABD candidates with evidence of a definite completion date may be considered.

KUMMER COLLEGE

COLLEGE of ENGINEERING & COMPUTING (CEC)
Missouri S&T's College of Engineering and Computing is the largest of three colleges at S&T, accounting for approximately 80% of the total enrollment (about 4,500 undergraduates and 800 graduate students). The college includes more than 170 ranked faculty members who serve in 16 undergraduate programs, all with master's and doctoral equivalents organized into nine academic departments. The college recently added a bachelor's degree in biomedical engineering and a Ph.D. in bioengineering, both starting in fall 2024.
