Job Summary
The Office of Admissions is now selecting students for the summer GO (Griffon Orientation) sessions! If you’d like to help welcome new students to Missouri Western State University, come join us in this fun work opportunity! Position starts May 12th.
The Orientation Leader will serve as a member of the Office of Admissions team to facilitate and implement orientation programs in order to assist new students and families in their transition to Missouri Western. Orientation Leaders provide the vital student connection that supports the yield of incoming students. This is a summer appointment that students may re-apply for each year.
The Orientation Leader will serve as a member of the Office of Admissions team to facilitate and implement orientation programs in order to assist new students and families in their transition to Missouri Western. Essential Duties
These duties assist with the retention and yield of incoming students:
- Facilitate and lead group discussions with new students and their guests
- Share knowledge of the university and assist students and guests with questions
- Serve as a role model for incoming students and peers
- Send individualized follow-up communication in a group chat with incoming students
- Operate microphones, speakers, and other technologies
- Assist with event set up and decorations including signage, outdoor yard signs, etc.
- Understand and support the goals of the Office of Admissions transition programs
- Other duties as assigned
Required Qualifications
- MWSU student who is in good standing with the University and the St. Joseph community
- Have completed one (1) full semester at Missouri Western (undergraduate 12 credit hours, graduate 6 credit hours)
- Student must be a part-time or full-time degree-seeking student
- Not currently on academic or disciplinary probation
- Must maintain a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5 at the time of application and throughout the performance of the role
- Currently enrolled student must be enrolled for summer or fall 2025 semester to be eligible to work in this summer position.

Physical Demands
Medium Work: Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.

- Attend mandatory Orientation Leader Training in the May, or
- Attend Orientation training in June as determined by the Office of Admissions
