Director of EMS

RECRUITMENT

$27 to $31 per hour DOE

THE FIRE DISTRICT

Mist-Birkenfeld RFPD provides fire, emergency medical, ambulance, and rescue services to 1,388 residents living within our District, plus countless seasonal visitors. The Fire District’s office staff supports 53 volunteers, who respond out of four stations, providing services in 165 square miles of Columbia and Clatsop counties. The Fire District responded to 297 emergency incidents in 2024 which included 44 medical transports.

THE DIRECTOR OF EMS SERVICES POSITION

Director of EMS Services is an hourly employee who provides emergency assistance and protective services to citizens. They work under guidelines provided by the Fire Chief to respond to emergency calls, provide rescue, and emergency medical services, and injury/illness prevention duties as assigned. Other responsibilities include maintenance of fire stations, equipment, and apparatus, participating in drills and training activities, and actively involved in public relation events as scheduled, and other duties and assignments associated with the goals and mission of the Fire District.

Acceptable Experience and Training:

· Community Health or Public Health Bachelor of Science (BS) degree preferred

· State of Oregon Emergency Medical Technician license or higher; or a National Registry of EMT's Advanced Emergency Medical Technician card or higher

· Experience working in a healthcare program or setting, or EMS field

· Any combination of experience and training which provides the equivalent scope of knowledge, skill, and abilities necessary to perform the work

Required Special Qualifications: (to achieve within one year of employment)

· Possess certifications in ICS 100, 200, and IS 700 and 800.

· Must possess and maintain a valid State of Oregon Driver License and a safe driving record

· Be in good physical health as determined by a medical examination

· Must possess and maintain a current BLS for Healthcare Providers certification, or an equivalent

HIRING PROCESS

Pay: $27.00 - $31.00 per hour
