We are seeking highly motivated USCG Marine Engineers interested in working as a lead engineer for an emergency response salvage vessel based in Dutch Harbor, Alaska. If you have salvage, towing, emergency response, and operational experience on conventional ocean-going tug/anchor handling vessels in mainland US Coastal Waters, Gulf of Mexico, and NW Pacific/Alaska, this is the perfect opportunity for you! This is a Jones Act compliant vessel.
- Travel: 60/60 split, docked emergency response vessel. Predominantly docked (70/30). May include international travel depending on the vessel's schedule.
- Location: 60/60 split stationed in Dutch Harbor, Alaska.
- Salary: Competitive day rate based on experience.
What will you do as an Assistant Engineer?
- Assist in ship’s technical maintenance and the safe, efficient, economical operation of all machinery.
- Follow all engine room procedures and assist in the engineering/technical department jobs.
- Maintain sufficient bunkers and other essential engine-related stores and consumables.
- Perform necessary routine maintenance, repairs, and handle ship’s technical jobs under the direction of the Chief Engineer.
- Stand engine room watch while the vessel is underway or as deemed necessary.
- Maintain log of the lube/oil quantities and consumptions.
- Monitor and analyze cooling water.
- Maintain the general condition/maintenance of machineries, steering gear, air conditioning, etc.
- Carry out any assigned maintenance jobs.

Our client is a marine solutions provider with rapid response capabilities. The vessel is docked in Alaska where it stays at-the-ready. Crew has daily access to town with Sunday's off. What are we looking for?
- U.S. Citizen with a current and active US passport. This is a Jones Act Vessel.
- Current USCG License with Engineer endorsements.
- Minimum of 4 years’ experience.
- Valid Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC).
- Valid USCG STCW and National medicals.
- Experience with Detroit Diesel, Caterpillar, Scania Engines, John Deere Generators, towing winches, towing gears, and hydraulics.
- Proficient in Word and Excel.
- Strong written and oral communication skills.
- Team player & leader with a positive attitude.
- Ability to handle increasing levels of responsibility.
- Must follow all safety protocols and adhere to regulations and company policies.
