EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR, Industrial Performance Center (IPC), to work closely with MIT faculty in a multidisciplinary approach to develop an agenda and research projects that address critical issues facing the U.S. and other countries, e.g., the effects of technological change and globalization on industrial competitiveness and organization, job creation, and local and regional economic development. Will be responsible for strategy and research, including overseeing research projects; raising funds; providing advising to graduate students, postdocs, and others; convening meetings and seminars; conducting rigorous policy-related research; communicating findings; and developing new opportunities. Will also be responsible for project management, i.e., managing research work plans and IPC budget; communications, i.e., developing communication strategies and working with advisors, faculty, and others to enhance visibility; and fundraising, i.e., raising funds and coordinating faculty fundraising efforts to support the center’s agenda and overall operating budget.
Job Requirements
REQUIRED: a Ph.D. in a relevant social science, engineering, or management field; ten years of experience related to research and/or relevant work in industry; excellent oral and written communication skills; proven ability to work across sectors with leaders in academia, business, and government; experience managing large projects involving diverse stakeholders from different organizations and geographical locations; and experience working with a variety of research funders (government, foundations, business) and comfort with all aspects of fundraising.
