TECHNICAL ASSOCIATE I, McGovern Institute for Brain Research, to perform systems neuroscience research in the Harnett Lab; contribute to one or more ongoing research projects and offer the opportunity to develop an independent research component; may conduct rodent behavioral experiments, in vivo neural recordings (Neuropixels and 2-photon microscopy), slice electrophysiology, rodent brain surgery, histology, confocal microscopy, data processing and curation, and data analysis. The Harnett lab aims to understand how the biophysical properties of neurons give rise to the cortical computations that guide mammalian behavior and is committed to scientific and career development of all lab members.
Job Requirements
REQUIRED: A scientific or engineering bachelor’s degree; a minimum of one year of research experience, undergraduate or post-baccalaureate; solid quantitative reasoning skills; excellent organizational, communication, and time-management skills; and the ability to work both collaboratively and independently. PREFERRED: Experience in systems neuroscience techniques, rodent behavior and surgery, immunohistochemistry, data analysis and programming languages like Python or MATLAB; individual looking to develop their research skills in an inclusive and collaborative work environment before applying to graduate and/or medical school.
