Description :
The Healthcare Advocate will support individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) as they transition into and navigate coordinated healthcare plans designed for dual-eligible participants.
This role is pivotal in providing guidance, advocacy, and education to ensure participants and their caregivers access appropriate services, benefits, and support for independent living and community integration.
Duties and Responsibilities :
Offer in-person and virtual assistance, advocacy, and education to participants and their caregivers, addressing enrollment, benefits, coverage, and access procedures.
Assist with resolving quality of care and quality of life concerns through skilled negotiation and by providing support for grievances and appeals.
Conduct outreach and educational presentations tailored for families, caregivers, and various stakeholders.
Develop and distribute outreach materials such as templates, posters, factsheets, and videos for participant education.
Maintain effective communication with managed care organizations and participate in stakeholder advisory committees.
Ensure compliance with confidentiality standards and maintain up-to-date records in relevant databases.
Provide training to other advocates and develop consumer-focused materials.
Analyze systemic challenges faced by individuals with disabilities and contribute to strategic solutions.
Research and assist in report preparation as required.
Required Skills :
Advanced knowledge of healthcare coverage, IDD services, and eligibility guidelines.
Exceptional advocacy, organizational, and interpersonal communication skills.
Proficiency in basic office software and familiarity with relevant healthcare policies and resources.
Ability to manage time effectively to balance outreach, case management, and administrative responsibilities.
Research and analytical skills, with an understanding of relevant laws and policies.
Desired Skills :
Experience with IDD communities and knowledge of associated services.
Personal experience with disabilities or direct advocacy is a plus.
Bilingual capabilities and driving experience are advantageous.
Compensation : 49700K - $71000K
