The Production Manager directs and coordinates the activities of the plant in processing materials and manufacturing products in the facility as well as shipping and receiving by performing the following duties personally or through shift supervisors.

- Plans production operations along with Plant Scheduler establishing priorities and sequences for manufacturing products.
- Prepares manpower schedules for production and vacation scheduling, break schedules and overtime coverage.
- Coordinates manufacturing activities to ensure production and quality of products meets specifications.
- Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities may include interviewing, hiring and training employees; planning, assigning and directing work while maintaining safety, quality, productivity and delivery; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
- Participates in weekly safety/6S audits.
- Trains and mentors Shift Supervisors on responsibilities and identifies external training requirements as needed.
- Coordinates the railcar moves, along with Warehouse Supervisor to ensure efficient inventory is available for production.
- Reviews outside warehousing/trucking and keeps costs to a minimum.
- Reviews production and OEE reporting and resolves operational, manufacturing and maintenance problems to ensure minimum downtime and costs. Prevents operational delays and improve metrics.
- Maintains a positive working relationship with union representatives.
- Develops or revises standard operational and working practices and observes workers to ensure compliance with standards.
- Generate hold/reject disposition forms when needed.
- Prepares monthly operations report.
- Prepares and leads monthly shift/communication meetings.
- Responsible for establishing and updating as necessary training matrix for production operators.
- Bachelor’s degree (BA/BS) highly preferred from four-year college or university
- 5-10 years of strong supervisory experience or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Experience in compounding/blending operations an asset
- Must be able to flex schedule to provide support and coverage for vacations and illnesses
- Must be able to cope with moving from a controlled atmosphere to plant ambient conditions several times a day
- The salary range for this position is $105,000 - $125,000. Factors such as scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/training, job-related skills, internal peer equity, as well as market and business considerations may influence base pay offered. This salary will be subject to a geographic adjustment (according to a specific city and state), if an authorization is granted to work outside of the location listed in this posting.
