THE POSITION:
Supervise and coordinate activities of workers and resources engaged in setting up and operating a variety of machines and word stations to repair and manufacture parts. Responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of the department/shift to include interviewing and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of the department/shift to include interviewing and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
- Safety: Ensure a safe work environment is maintained at all times. Responsible for having safe work instructions available for all positions. Processes are run in accordance with SOP's. All employees have the required level of safety training, all equipment and installations are well maintained with safety guards & devices and associates are using the appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). Complete a thorough investigation of all safety near misses and accidents. Determine root causes and develop an action plan to eliminate or mitigate the cause of near misses and accidents. Act as primary leader of Behavior Based Safety within assigned production area. Coach Core Teams and all direct employees in their performance to all pinpoints, past and in process.
- Responsible for daily coordination of production activities and performance in assigned areas and shifts including maximization of safety, quality, delivery & cost.
- Quality: Ensure production quality objectives are met including regular adherence to company’s manufacturing practices and product quality checks conducted in accordance with policies. Actively participate in prevention and correction of quality-related errors. Ensure that a high quality of products, services, housekeeping and hygiene standards are maintained and improved in assigned areas. Ensure the development and implementation of action plans to address root causes of failures and support continuous improvement initiatives.
- Delivery: Plan and manage the daily allocation of resources (equipment, people, materials and systems) in order to safely, efficiently, and cost effectively achieve performance targets set by Production Management.
- Cost: Review daily achievement of targets and report variances during on-the-floor and review meetings. Manage labor, material, and supply expenses within budgetary constraints.
- Employees: Responsible for management of assigned team of production employees; participates in the hiring process, employee on-boarding and performance management. Provide direction, leadership, development and support to direct reports through empowerment, teamwork, on-the-job assignments and continuous improvement to meet current and future business requirements. Coach employees in their development of knowledge and skills, providing timely feedback, guidance, and training to help them reach goals. Understand internal and external regulations, procedures & policies and apply them fairly and consistently. Manage relationships and maintain professional rapport with internal and external customers, suppliers, colleagues and support services to ensure achievement of department and company goals.
- Facilitate seamless handoffs and communicate key information to peers, team members and Production Management.

EDUCATION:

- Education and/or Experience: Associate's degree (AA) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; or at least six months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Language Skills: Ability to read and comprehend instructions, correspondence, and memos. Ability to write correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
- Mathematical Skills: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
- Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
- Computer Skills: Basic personal computer skills including electronic mail, word processing, spreadsheet, graphics, etc.
