Production Manager – Chemical Plant
Miwon Specialty Chemical Co. Ltd. is seeking a full-time Production Manager. Our company is a leading producer and supplier of raw materials for eco-friendly UV/EB curing systems. Our products are utilized in a variety of applications, including inks for food packaging, special coatings for wood, plastic, and metal, as well as adhesives for DVD/Blu-ray discs and mobile phones. We are committed to innovation and sustainability in the chemical industry. This onsite position is housed in Miwon’s 65,000-square-foot production facility that is in Columbia, S.C. Position Summary:
The Production Manager will oversee all aspects of production operations at our chemical plant. This position is responsible for ensuring production efficiency, safety, quality, and regulatory compliance while leading and developing the production team.
Essential Functions:
- Manage daily production operations to ensure optimal efficiency and product quality.
- Oversee the implementation and improvement of manufacturing processes.
- Ensure compliance with environmental, health, and safety regulations.
- Develop and implement production schedules, ensuring timely delivery of products.
- Monitor and analyze key performance indicators (KPIs) to drive continuous improvement.
- Collaborate with R&D, quality, and engineering teams to optimize formulations and processes.
- Develop, review, and enforce Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to support product consistency and regulatory compliance.
- Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing production team.
- Conduct regular performance reviews and provide ongoing training to enhance team skills and productivity.
- Manage production budgets and drive cost reduction initiatives.
- Troubleshoot operational issues and implement corrective actions as needed.
- Coordinate with supply chain and engineering teams for equipment maintenance, upgrades, and efficient plant operations.
- Maintain compliance with industry regulations, including OSHA, EPA, and other applicable standards.
Skills/Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in chemical engineering.
- 10-15 years of experience in chemical manufacturing, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
- Strong knowledge of chemical processing, UV/EB curing technology, and raw material handling.
- Proven experience in lean manufacturing, Six Sigma, or other process improvement methodologies.
- Strong leadership, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Excellent communication and team management abilities.
- Knowledge of regulatory compliance related to chemical production, including OSHA and EPA requirements.
- Experience with ERP systems and production planning tools is a plus.
This role requires regular interaction with plant operations and involves exposure to chemicals and industrial environments.
Must be able to work outside in environmental conditions which at times include extreme heat or extreme cold. Must be able to wear all required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) without restriction and pass any medical examination associated with the use of said PPE.
The physical requirements include the following: Lift 50 pounds floor to waist, push and pull 50 pounds horizontally, carry 20 pounds while walking, climb stairs, climb ladders, extend arms through normal range of motion while standing and squatting.
