What are the responsibilities and job description for the Bartender / Server position at MJ Resort Inc?
The Server/Bartender provides superior service and memorable dining experiences to restaurant guests by taking and delivering food and beverage orders. You will work in close collaboration with restaurant colleagues and follow established health and safety standards.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
- Prepare tables for dining with special attention to sanitation and presentation.
- Roll silverware in napkins and restock condiment caddies.
- Manage guest queue per reservation list.
- Greet and seat guests upon arrival.
- Engage with guests in a friendly manner and provide information/recommendations about the menu.
- Promote sales of beverages, appetizers, and desserts.
- Take food and drink orders accurately and with a positive attitude.
- Enter orders into point of sale system.
- Deliver food and beverages to dining tables.
- Issue bills and accept payment using computer point of sale and credit card systems.
- Collaborate with other restaurant servers and kitchen/bar staff.
- Mix drinks and serve wine and beer as requested.
- Handle concerns or problems with a positive attitude.
- Promote loyalty and return business from customers.
- Bus tables by removing dirty dishes, silverware and napkins from tables and cleaning.
- Maintain cleanliness of restaurant by sweeping, mopping, washing windows, emptying trash, maintaining restroom cleanliness, and cleaning fireplace grates and windows.
- Clean and stock coffee bar by making coffee, refilling hot chocolate maker, cookie jar, condiments, etc.
OCCASIONAL DUTIES
- Help food preparation staff when necessary by preparing salads, desserts, side items, etc.
- Wash dishes and clean/help in kitchen when needed.
- Build fires in fireplace and tend fires.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Proven ability to interact with customers in a friendly and courteous manner.
- Ability to learn the menu and promote products to enhance sales.
- Customer-oriented, patient approach.
- Problem solving and decision-making skills.
- Hands-on experience in cashier duties, including ability to handle money accurately and reliably and work with a point-of-sale and credit card system.
- Excellent people skills.
- Responsible and trustworthy.
- Attention to cleanliness and safety.
- Self-motivated and able to keep busy and productive without direction.
- Understanding and knowledge of safety, sanitation and food handling procedures. (Food safety training is considered a plus.)
- Ability to work calmly and effectively under pressure.
- Food and beverage knowledge, including beers, wine, liquor, and mixed drinks.
- Ability to make and serve cocktails.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
- Must have experience serving and bartending in a full-service restaurant.
COMMUNICATION SKILLS
- Excellent verbal communication skills to interact effectively with guests, managers, and restaurant coworkers.
