POSITION OVERVIEW: The Accounting Specialist is responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, processing transactions, and ensuring compliance with accounting principles and regulations. This role supports the accounting department's daily operations and contributes to the organization's financial accuracy and integrity.
Requirements:ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND SKILLS:
Typical responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
- Manage the full accounts payable cycle including invoice processing, payment approvals, and vendor relations
- Oversee accounts receivable functions including invoicing, collections, and cash application
- Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts
- Assist with month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close procedures
- Prepare journal entries and account reconciliations
- Monitor aging reports and follow up on outstanding balances
- Help prepare financial statements and reports
- Participate in audit preparation and compliance activities
- Maintain organized financial records and documentation
- Identify and resolve accounting discrepancies
- Support with other accounting projects
- Reviewing income and expenses
- Overseeing day-to-day financial activities
- Analyzing and interpreting financial data
- Implementing financial policies and procedures
- Ensuring that the organization is following all financial and legal regulations
- Preparing financial forecasts such as revenue, expenses, and loan estimations

EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION/YEARS OF EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or related field.
- 0-2 years of accounting experience.
DESIRED SPECIALIZED SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE:
- Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel.
- Strong understanding of accounting principles and procedures.
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
- Analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Effective communication and organizational skills.
- Experience with ERP or accounting systems.
- Knowledge of IFRS and regulatory requirements.
- Experience with financial statement preparation.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Must be able to lift 15 pounds at times.
- Must be able to access and navigate each department at the organization's facilities.
EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK:
- A typical work week is 40 hours/week.
WORK ENVIRONMENT: Office work is normally performed in a typical interior work environment which does not subject the employee to any hazardous or unpleasant elements.
