Position Summary
The Hotel Maintenance Engineer ensures the safe and efficient operation of all building systems and equipment within the hotel. This includes performing preventive maintenance, addressing guest requests, responding to emergencies, and maintaining the overall aesthetic and functional quality of the property. Key Responsibilities
1. General Maintenance & Repairs
- Perform routine inspections and preventive maintenance on HVAC systems, plumbing, electrical, and mechanical systems.
- Address and resolve maintenance issues in guest rooms, common areas, and back-of-house spaces.
- Troubleshoot and repair issues with appliances, fixtures, and structural components (doors, windows, flooring, etc.).
2. Facility Management
- Monitor and maintain building systems, including elevators, fire alarms, and security systems.
- Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations.
- Assist in maintaining the hotel’s energy management and conservation program.
3. Guest Services
- Respond promptly to guest service calls for maintenance issues in rooms or other areas of the hotel.
- Ensure minimal disruption to guests during repairs or maintenance activities.
4. Preventive Maintenance
- Develop and execute a schedule for preventive maintenance tasks to extend equipment life and prevent breakdowns.
- Keep accurate records of inspections, repairs, and maintenance work performed.
5. Emergency Response
- Respond immediately to emergency situations, such as power outages, flooding, or equipment failure.
- Coordinate with management and external contractors to address critical incidents promptly.
6. Team Collaboration
- Collaborate with housekeeping, front desk, and other departments to ensure smooth operations.
- Assist in training team members on safety and proper use of equipment.
Qualifications
Education & Certification
- High school diploma or GED required; technical or trade school certification preferred.
- Certification in HVAC, plumbing, or electrical systems (e.g., EPA Refrigeration Certification) is a plus.
Experience
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in building maintenance, preferably in a hotel or hospitality environment.
- Strong knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems.
Skills
- Proficiency in troubleshooting and repairing building systems.
- Ability to read blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals.
- Excellent communication and guest service skills.
Physical Requirements
