REPORTS TO: Paint & Blast Team Lead
JOB SCOPE: As a Blaster and Paint Support Team Member you will be expected to conduct all tasks in the area including, but not limited to, surface preparations and painting (electrostatic) of various parts and products per engineering/industry standards and work orders. Role is critical in assuring corrosion resistance, durability and overall quality and aesthetic of our manufactured products.
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITES:
- Prepare, maintain and inspect equipment and products for blast and coating operations
- Select the most appropriate method to remove old finishes
- Prepare surfaces of product for optimal paint adhesion by blasting, repairing, sanding and patching
- Preparation pre paint to include masking
- Coat product to provided specifications
- Hang and unhang parts pre and post paint applications
- Adhere to procedures for the safe handling of toxins and proper disposal
- Operate forklifts, hoists, overhead cranes and/or other material-handling equipment
- Be available and willing to assist with painting projects and assignments which may include but not limited to spray finish coatings, detail painting, applying decals etc.
- Uses industrial abrasive equipment to clean and prep metal surfaces (Steel Shot)
- Returns abrasive steel shot to reclaim system by means shovel and or broom.
- Effectively communicate inventory level related to department to leads.
- Proficiently operate within companies MES system (EPICOR) to:
- Review and manage job orders and production schedule
- Accurately log time & completion of job tasks
- Comply with all applicable quality, health, safety, & environmental regulations
- Report information and concerns to Supervisor, as necessary.
- Perform required preventive maintenance checks on equipment, watch and listen for abnormal conditions, and report concerns immediately
- Handle routine maintenance tasks and preventative maintenance tasks, such as bi-annual booth cleaning
- Maintain assigned work area in a clean and orderly manner
- Fill in as needed and perform other duties as assigned
Minimum prerequisite education, training, and/or experience required:
- High school diploma or GED
- Ability and Willingness to obtain forklift license to operate company mobile equipment
- Ability to read and correctly interpret prints / drawings and specifications, material safety datasheets and equipment safety guidelines
- Ability to work in the shop environment at least 8 hours per day
Job Specific Capabilities:
- Knowledge of most coating systems and their performance and/or restrictions
- Operate blasting equipment in booth
- Operate painting equipment in booth
- Ability to follow instructions given both verbally and in written form
- Ability to work methodically and meet deadlines
- Ability to adapt and learn new skills
- Communication – Ability to read, write and speak English. Must be able to articulate ideas and plans and communicate these accurately and effectively to others.
Physical Capabilities:
- Examples of Hand Tools Used: sockets, socket wrenches, pliers, hammers, torque wrenches other tools as assigned.
- Examples of Equipment Used: Paint Bay, Blast Bay, powered industrialized equipment
- Movement: Constant movement includes: walking, standing; Frequent Movement includes: climbing, bending, kneeling, crouching/squatting
- Lift and or Carry: 50Lbs Frequently, over 20lbs constantly, Over 100lbs occasionally with assistance.
