Job Summary :
Moby Capital is seeking a proactive and well-connected Business Development Officer to establish and nurture a strong referral network of Accounting Firms, Payroll Companies, SBA Vendors, and other key business service providers. This role is focused exclusively on generating high-quality referrals and expanding our network.The ideal candidate excels at networking, outreach, and relationship-building, with a proven ability to connect with industry professionals who advise small and medium-sized businesses. Success in this role will be measured by the quality and consistency of new referral partnerships and the volume of business generated through these relationships.
Key Responsibilities :
Identify & Establish Referral Partnerships :
Develop relationships with CPAs, Payroll Providers, SBA Lenders, and Business Consultants who work closely with small businesses.
Make outbound calls and conduct meetings to introduce Moby Capital’s funding solutions and create strategic alliances.
Educate referral partners on how Moby Capital can provide fast, flexible funding for their clients.
Position Moby Capital as the go-to funding resource within the professional services space.
Expand & Maintain a Strong Referral Network :
Create a structured outreach strategy to grow partnerships and ensure consistent deal flow.
Leverage networking events, LinkedIn, and direct outreach to build relationships with decision-makers.
Ensure referral partners are equipped with the right information and marketing materials to confidently introduce Moby Capital to their clients.
Market Presence & Industry Engagement :
Attend trade shows, conferences, and industry events every 1-3 months to establish Moby Capital as a leader in alternative funding.
Work with the marketing team to develop materials, presentations, and campaigns targeted at referral partners.
Monitor industry trends to identify new referral opportunities and stay ahead of market shifts.
Hand Off Generated Leads to the Sales Team :
Focus solely on partner acquisition and relationship-building
Ensure that all referral opportunities are properly documented and passed on to the funding team.
Maintain clear communication with internal teams to optimize partnership success without handling individual deals.
Qualifications :
Proven experience in business development, partnerships, or strategic networking, preferably within financial services, lending, or a B2B sales environment.
Existing relationships in industries such as accounting, payroll services, SBA lending, or business advisory roles (preferred but not required).
Strong communication and outbound calling skills—must be comfortable engaging decision-makers and initiating partnerships.
Ability to travel nationwide every 1-3 months for networking events, trade shows, and key partner meetings.
Highly organized and self-motivated, with a structured approach to referral generation.
Experience in developing outreach strategies and marketing campaigns to attract referral partners.
Preferred Skills :
Familiarity with alternative lending, merchant cash advances (MCA), or working capital funding.
Experience in referral-based business development and partner acquisition strategies.
Strong networking, relationship management, and negotiation skills.
