    Responsibilities

    Your Role as a Business Development Manager: Driving Growth, Building Relationships, and Leading the Market

    As a Business Development Manager (BDM) – Dealership Sales at Model 1, your mission will be to lead sales efforts, foster meaningful relationships, and deliver exceptional results. Here's how you'll make an impact:

    Sales and Business Development

    • Craft and execute a strategic sales plan to drive revenue for commercial vehicles, upfit products, and services in your territory.
    • Identify and engage potential customers, from commercial dealerships to regional end-user businesses ready to innovate.
    • Conduct in-depth market research to understand dealership needs, competitor strategies, and emerging trends.
    • Build a high-performing sales pipeline by prospecting, qualifying leads, and converting opportunities into closed deals.
    • Bring the product to life through dynamic, field-based demonstrations, including on-site visits and hands-on vehicle walk-arounds.

    Relationship Management

    • Be a Model 1 Ambassador: champion our culture, values, and innovative spirit while working with our collaborative, evolving team.
    • Cultivate strong relationships with key stakeholders—customers, dealers, and industry leaders alike.
    • Serve as the go-to expert for your customers, addressing inquiries, delivering top-notch service, and providing tailored solutions.
    • Lead engaging product demonstrations and training sessions to build loyalty and ensure customer satisfaction.
    • Find opportunities to upsell and cross-sell, helping customers unlock the full potential of our product and service offerings.

    Sales Performance and Reporting

    • Consistently hit and exceed sales targets, driving quarterly and annual revenue growth.
    • Stay organized and strategic by leveraging HubSpot CRM and other cutting-edge tools to track sales activity, customer interactions, and deal progress.
    • Provide leadership with accurate, timely sales reports, forecasts, and market insights that highlight growth opportunities.
    • Stay ahead of the curve by monitoring market trends, competitor movements, and customer feedback—continuously refining your strategy for success.

    Minimum Qualifications

    • Education: Bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, or a related field preferred.
    • Experience: 2–5 years of proven success in B2B territory sales, ideally within commercial vehicles, upfit products, or dealership environments. (Experience in related industries will be considered.)
    • Entrepreneurial Drive: A passion for building and managing a thriving sales territory.
    • Industry Knowledge: Familiarity with—or a willingness to master—commercial vehicles, vocational upfit products, market trends, and regulations.
    • Dealership Expertise: Experience working with dealerships where upfitted vehicles are core to their success is a strong plus.
    • Communication Skills: Exceptional presentation, listening, and interpersonal abilities.
    • Sales Savvy: Strong negotiation and closing skills, with a focus on creating long-term partnerships.
    • Independence: Self-motivated and results-oriented, capable of working with minimal supervision.
    • Tech Proficiency: Skilled in CRM software, Microsoft Office, MS Teams, and Zoom for seamless collaboration and sales tracking.
    • Travel-Ready: Valid driver’s license and a willingness to travel extensively within your territory to build face-to-face connections.

    Physical Requirements

    • Comfortable with prolonged periods of desk work and computer use.
    • Ability to lift up to 15 pounds as needed.
