Position Description

Modern Family Law, a boutique law firm specializing in Family Law, is looking for a compassionate, innovative, and respected Attorney to join our amazing team in Washington. Modern Family Law offers dynamic compensation, a wide array of benefit selections, and a culture built on family.

We are seeking an Attorney to handle diverse family law cases and make a meaningful impact on the lives of our clients. The position is critical in leading us toward achieving excellence in client service by balancing considerations across legal expertise, client advocacy, and team collaboration. This is a great opportunity to work on impactful cases in an exciting, fast-paced environment.

This is primarily a Work from Home position, but in-person attendance will be required for court appearances and occasional client meetings.

To be successful in this role, the incumbent in this position would be expected to do the following:

  • Handle a variety of family law cases, including divorce, custody, support, and property division matters.
  • Represent clients in court and make all in-court appearances as required.
  • Conduct legal research and prepare pleadings, motions, and briefs to support client cases.
  • Meet with clients in-office when requested and provide them with timely legal advice and updates on case status.
  • Collaborate with team members, including paralegals, fellow attorneys, and administrative staff, to ensure cases are handled efficiently and effectively.
  • Attend mediation and settlement conferences to negotiate favorable outcomes for clients.
  • Maintain excellent communication with clients to build trust and ensure they feel supported throughout the legal process.
  • Stay up to date with legal developments and trends in family law to provide clients with the most effective representation.
  • Other duties and projects as assigned.

Position Requirements

  • As our culture is remote-first, all employees are expected to have the capability to work from home with a reliable internet connection and to set up a workstation that supports productive work during normal business hours.
  • A minimum of one year experience in family law.
  • Active admission to the Washington State Bar and in good standing.
  • Exceptional writing skills demonstrated through writing samples.
  • Strong verbal communication skills, with the ability to clearly explain complex legal issues to clients.
  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills to manage multiple competing priorities.
  • A client-focused mindset with a commitment to providing exceptional client experiences.
  • Strong references attesting to your expertise and professionalism.
  • Experience practicing in Pierce, King, Snohomish, Thurston, Island, and Skagit counties preferred

Skills and Competencies

  • Ability to communicate professionally and interact effectively with clients, court staff, and opposing counsel.
  • Proven ability to handle a variety of family law matters, including divorce, child custody, and property division.
  • Demonstrated ability to balance multiple cases simultaneously, meet deadlines, and maintain high-quality legal work.
  • Flexibility to respond quickly and positively to changing client needs and legal deadlines.
  • High attention to detail, with a proactive attitude toward resolving client issues and managing caseloads.
  • Ability to work under pressure, especially during trial preparation or during tight court schedules.
  • Strong negotiation and mediation skills to advocate for clients in settlement discussions.
  • Willingness to work evenings or weekends when necessary to handle urgent matters or meet case deadlines.

Compensation: $115,000 – $140,000 Bas monthly Billing Bonuses. The range presented is a reliable estimate of the base salary that this individual is expected to receive. Actual pay will be adjusted based on experience, location, internal and external pay equity, and other job related factors as permitted by law. Full-time employees may be eligible for health insurance with an optional Flexible Spending Account or a Health Savings Account, short term disability, long term disability, dental insurance, vision care, life insurance, 401(k) Retirement, vacation, sick time, and an employee assistance program to support the personal wellness needs of our employees.

Additional voluntary programs are available and include voluntary accident insurance, voluntary life, voluntary disability, voluntary long-term care, voluntary critical illness and cancer insurance, as well as pet insurance. Additionally, in some markets, commuter and transit benefit programs are available.
