CHEF ASSISTANT – BANQUETS
(This is an On-Call Position)
SUMMARY
The Chef Assistant plays a crucial role in the kitchen for our Banquets, supporting the head chef and ensuring that all culinary operations run smoothly.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Washes, peels, cuts, and seeds vegetables and fruits
- Cleans, cuts, and grinds meats, poultry, and seafood.
- Dip food items in crumbs, flour, and batter to bread them.
- Stir and strain soups and sauces.
- Weights and measures designated ingredients according to standardized recipes.
- Carries pans, kettles, and food trays to and from workstations, stove, and refrigerator.
- Stores foods in designated areas
- Cleans work areas, equipment, and utensils; segregates and removes garbage; steam-cleans or hoses garbage containers.
- Distributed supplies, utensils, and portable equipment.
- Records food and supplies used in an inventory log
- Adheres to all health, sanitary, and safety regulations.
- Other duties may be assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Must have a high school diploma or equivalent
- Available to work “On-Call” nights and weekends. Since this is an “On-Call” position, no minimum hours are guaranteed for any day/week/month
- Must pass a criminal background check
PREFERED QUALIFICTONS
- Culinary certification or degree from an accredited institution
- Experience in a fast-paced restaurant or catering environment
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to follow instructions accurately.
