Estimator – Modern Molding (Delano, MN)
Modern Molding is seeking a detail-oriented Estimator to support quoting and sales operations for plastic injection molding. This role plays a key part in generating accurate, competitive estimates for new tooling, production, and repairs. Reporting to the Business Development Manager, the Estimator ensures profitability through well-calculated quotes, collaborating across teams and contributing to company growth.
Key Responsibilities
- Cost Estimation & Quoting
- Prepare detailed and competitive quotes for tooling, production, and repair.
- Analyze part designs, materials, and process requirements.
- Complete RFQs within 3 business days; maintain quote accuracy and competitiveness.
- Collaborate with engineering, tooling, and production for feasibility and risk analysis.
- Customer & Team Collaboration
- Review customer prints/specs and clarify technical requirements.
- Respond promptly and professionally to customer RFQs.
- Technical & Manufacturing Knowledge
- Apply expertise in injection molding, tooling, and materials.
- Partner with internal teams to assess mold design, cycle times, and production viability.
Qualifications
- 5 years of estimating or quoting experience in plastic injection molding.
- Hands-on molding experience and strong analytical skills preferred.
- Proficiency in Excel, ERP/MRP systems, quoting tools; CAD familiarity a plus.
- Strong attention to detail, technical knowledge, and time management.
- Excellent communication and problem-solving abilities.
