Responsibilities
The Sr. Technical Program Manager will provide direct program management and engineering support to a Department of Defense customer for research, engineering, prototyping, development, rapid acquisition and project execution.
- Work in small, targeted teams to identify emerging capabilities, organize studies and concept development, rapidly prototype and deliver advanced capabilities to the warfighter
- Meet with third-party technology vendors and evaluate performers from the solicitation and proposal process through technology delivery in support of sponsor requirements
- Build, lead, inspire and enable a diverse research and development team to carry out foundational, novel and advanced research
- Evaluate contractor performance and perform quantitative evaluations of results
- Communicate highly technical problems and solutions from engineers to senior DoD leadership
- Explore and understand state-of-the-art technical developments and emerging technologies to understand how projects should adapt and grow over time
- Work as a trusted, strategic partner with the customer by delivering actionable insights about emerging technologies as well as with technically-minded external partners
- Provide oral and written briefings to senior DoD leadership, create written reports detailing assessment findings, and make recommendations to DoD customers and external partners
Qualifications
Required Experience:
- 15 years' work experience in DoD-relevant advanced technology development as a project/program manager or portfolio lead
- Technical knowledge across a range of fields, including systems integration, advanced sensors, communications, autonomy, artificial intelligence, microelectronics, and material science
- Ability to think critically and act strategically in a fast paced, highly entrepreneurial, and ambiguous environment
- Proven experience developing, testing, and delivering advanced technologies
Desired Experience:
- Experience initiating, planning, and delivering medium to large cross-functional, multi-year initiatives
- Experience seeking and developing long-term partnerships with critical research and industry partners
- Demonstrated ability to use qualitative and quantitative insight to inform decisions and program direction
- Experience with risk reduction and establishing a risk management process in a technology development program
Education Requirements:
- B.S. degree in a scientific, engineering, or other applicable technical disciplines Required
- Masters of Science/Engineering degree in an engineering or scientific discipline or other applicable technical areas Desired
Clearance Requirements:
Active TS/SCI (Cl polygraph highly desired)
