Job Summary:
As a IT Support Specialist at Modern Tek Solutions, you will play a key role in providing advanced technical support and solutions to our clients. This position requires a strong understanding of IT systems and networks, along with the ability to diagnose complex issues and implement effective solutions. The IT Support Specialist will provide support, escalate unresolved issues to management, and assist with infrastructure projects and upgrades.

Responsibilities:
1. Provide technical support to clients via phone, email, or in person, assisting with hardware and software issues, account setup, and basic network troubleshooting.
2. Diagnose and resolve complex IT problems, including desktop/laptop issues, printer connectivity problems, phone system issues, software installation/configuration errors and system performance issues.
3. Support the setup, configuration, and optimization of hardware and software solutions for both the company and clientele, including computers, phones, audio equipment, cameras, printers, and peripherals.
4. Must be willing and able to assist in the installation and termination of low voltage cabling systems, including but not limited to data, voice, and video cables. Ensuring installation complies with industry standards and project specifications.
5. Escalate complex technical issues to management, ensuring timely resolution and minimal disruption to clients' operations.
6. Record all support interactions and resolutions in our internal system, ensuring accurate documentation of client issues and the corresponding solutions, including any supporting documents.
7. Assist or take the lead on the planning, implementation, and maintenance of IT infrastructure projects, including server upgrades, network expansions, and cloud migrations. This includes coordinating resources, setting timelines, and ensuring successful project completion.
8. Conduct basic customer consultations, gathering requirements and providing initial guidance on IT solutions and services.
9. Perform routine maintenance tasks, such as software updates, antivirus scans, and system backups, to ensure the security and reliability of clients' IT systems.
10. Perform system administration tasks, including user account management, server configuration, and software installation/updates.
11. Provide technical guidance and mentoring to staff, sharing knowledge and best practices to enhance team performance.
12. Stay up to date with emerging technologies and industry trends, continuously expanding knowledge and skills to improve service delivery.

Qualifications:
1. High School Diploma or equivalent. Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or related field preferred.
2. Minimum of 2 years of experience in a technical support role, with a strong understanding of IT systems and networks.
3. Proficiency in operating systems (Windows, Linux, MacOS) and common business applications (Microsoft Office Suite).
4. Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail, with the ability to troubleshoot and resolve technical issues independently.
5. Hands-on experience with server and network infrastructure components, including routers, switches, firewalls, and virtualization technologies.
6. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate technical information to non-technical users effectively.
7. A passion for technology and a desire to learn and grow in the IT field.
8. Industry certifications such as CompTIA A or Microsoft Certified Desktop Support Technician (MCDST), Biamp, Milestone and Axis are a plus.
9. Basic knowledge of low voltage cabling systems and industry standards.
10. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing priorities.

Physical Requirements:
1. Ability to lift and carry equipment weighing up to 50 pounds.
2. Comfortable working in confined spaces and at heights.
3. Ability to work in severe heat.
