TITLE : Sr. Controls Sales Engineer

This position will offer potential customers specific solutions for their Building Automation System (BAS) needs, and develop / package project proposals utilizing in-house estimating / proposal templates. A strong background in HVAC solutions selling and selling within the construction industry is required with 10 years of proven results experience. Emphasis is on generating new sales in diverse markets.

Responsibilities

  • Have an in-depth knowledge of building automation, HVAC equipment, and building management systems.
  • Must be comfortable selling at the “D” and “C” levels within our customers' business as well as doing board room presentations.
  • Must have a strong ability to find, qualify, and close custom solutions.
  • Have an in-depth knowledge of all existing contracting mechanisms (e.g. Mohave, TCPN, State Contract, GSA, etc.).
  • Provide BAS controls system pricing for design build and bid and spec both standalone and in conjunction with the estimating, public sector sales, and engineering teams.
  • Ability to walk a project site to promptly respond to customers by identifying needs, generating quotes, troubleshooting problems, and closing orders.
  • Maintain and expand customer base with targeted office visits and / or lunches (solicit additional work when possible / appropriate).
  • Ability to work in a team environment with other subject matter experts to provide our customers with the best total facilities solution.
  • Provide needed information to other departments and management to ensure jobs are completed on time, within budget, and customer expectations.
  • Communicate customer perceptions by gathering customer feedback and sharing information with Controls project management, engineering, and technical field staff.
  • Attend periodic marketing events and conferences to promote PMC. Foster and grow customer relationships.
  • Report sales activity and attend periodic Sales Development meetings as well as Controls Department meetings.
  • Assist with proposal and RFP / IFB package preparation with Contracts Manager, Controls Team, Sales Team, Preconstruction Services, and Contract Administrators as required.
  • Prefer experience and / or knowledge of electronic security systems equipment, materials, and methods of repair and service maintenance agreements.

Sales Responsibilities

  • Promoting and selling Pueblo supported products and services.
  • Positioning Pueblo Mechanical and Controls as the premier provider of relevant products and services.
  • Cold calling potential customers including specifiers, owners, and end users.
  • Keeping abreast of new BAS technologies.
  • Maintain accurate sales forecasting in Bid Tracer CRM.
  • Create individual sales plans for key targeted customers.
  • Maintain accurate sales activity reporting.
  • Attend conferences and trade shows.
  • Conduct demonstrations of products for customers.
  • Remain knowledgeable of customer needs.
  • Other tasks as assigned by supervisor.
  • Qualifications

  • Ten years of proven experience in HVAC controls Sales, Design, or Management.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to effectively communicate / negotiate with internal and external customers.
  • Excellent computer proficiency (CRM, MS Office products).
  • Must be able to work under pressure and meet deadlines, while maintaining a positive attitude and providing exemplary customer service.
  • Strategy development, project management, problem solving, and change management skills.
  • Ability to work independently and to carry out assignments to completion within parameters of instructions given, prescribed routines, and standard accepted practices.
  • Wide degree of creativity and latitude expected.
  • A four-year technical degree is preferred but may be substituted with education, training, and experience.
