JOB SUMMARY:
The Assistant Controller role provides an opportunity for growth, development and advancement. To be successful in this role, you should possess the ability to conduct a wide variety of intricate and complex accounting duties and projects. An ideal candidate should be savvy in Microsoft 365 products including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook Email, as well as ERP systems. Must have excellent organizational, analytical, interpersonal skills, and the ability to create and maintain a team-oriented environment. Primary duties will be to ensure the accurate and timely preparation of financial statements and maintenance of accounting records in accordance with regulatory requirements and company policy.
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Ensure accurate and timely preparation of financial statements.
- Maintain accounting records in accordance with regulatory and company policy.
- Assist in monthly close process.
- Working with other departments, analyzing job costs and providing variance explanations
- Reviews financial statement and provides variances to plan.
- Prepare monthly financial statement package and commentary.
- Review general ledger balance sheet reconciliations, verify accuracy of data.
- Preparation and coordination of information for annual audits along with communication with
the auditors.
- Facilitate filing of sales tax returns.
- Ensure compliance with economic Nexus statutes.
- Assist in providing information and communication with third-party tax professionals.
- Participate in annual budgeting and forecasting process.
- Maintain knowledge of acceptable accounting practices and procedures.
- Ability to implement processes and efficiencies across the department.
- Ability to help “scale” as the company is undergoing rapid growth.
- Perform other financial projects and related duties as assigned.
- Build relationships and work closely with other departments to provide relevant financial data
to help in improving the profitability of the company.
- Management and leadership of 5-6 accountants and clerical staff
QUALIFICATIONS:
Work Experience:
- 10-15 years of senior level accounting experience preferably in a manufacturing or construction industry.
- Previous company experience with revenues of greater than $80M
Education:
•BS/BA in Accounting
•CPA Certification preferred.
•Master’s degree a plus
Related Experience:
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong analytical and quantitative abilities with a focus on accuracy and precision.
• Extensive Knowledge of general and cost accounting functions, treasury management, and
fixed assets.
• Understanding of and the ability to adhere to accepted accounting principles.
• Ability to correctly prepare sales tax returns for multiple states/localities.
• Knowledge of economic Nexus statutes and procurement.
• Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Excel and Word skills
