Responsibilities
- Prepare and analyze cytology specimens, ensuring proper handling and identification.
- Make initial diagnoses and provide final diagnoses for negative gynecological material.
- Refer abnormal gynecological and non-gynecological material to pathologists.
- Enter results and quality control data into the laboratory information system.
- Collaborate with laboratory staff and other departments, such as radiology and oncology, for patient care.
- Maintain accurate records of slides screened and screening hours.
- Ensure compliance with accreditation and regulatory standards.
- Participate in quality improvement and continuing education programs.
- ASCP certification in Cytotechnology (required).
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution.
- Strong attention to detail and effective interpersonal skills.
- Ability to differentiate colors and work with hazardous materials.
- Physical ability to stand for prolonged periods and occasionally lift up to 50 pounds
