What are the responsibilities and job description for the Accountant position at Mohave Mental Health Clinic, Inc.?
PRINCIPAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Cross department collaboration with Billing Supervisor to address billing issues and maintain smooth financial workflows by accessing and utilization of billing information within the Electronic Medical Record (EMR)
2. Reviews all accounts payable (A/P) check runs on a weekly basis.
3. Reviews monthly reconciliation of A/P balances.
4. Reviews the monthly Orion Health Insurance Pool billing for all health benefits and reviews pension payment each pay period.
5. Reconciles annually the pension eligibility report.
6. Makes all fixed asset journal entries, verifying expenditures are properly classified as a fixed asset per the capitalization policy.
7. Assists the DOO with the closing of the month, including generating accrued expense entries for the MPIS and entering revenue and contractual adjustments from EMR, updating deferred revenue, amortization, and depreciation schedules.
8. Responsible to assist with Worker's Compensation, Orion Health Insurance Pool, and external and financial audits.
9. Prepares all Department of Labor reports and financial reports as required.
10. Reviews payroll publications regarding regulations and procedures to ensure compliance with Federal and State regulations.
11. Performs all A/P and payroll duties, in the absence of staff, as needed.
12. Participate as a member of the Operations Services Committee.
13. Assists DOO with purchasing processes and budgetary monitoring as needed. Investigates and makes recommendations to DOO regarding major purchases.
14. Identifies and trends any areas of financial concern and brings to DOO for resolution.
15. Assists with preparation of the Clinic's operational and capital budgets annually.
16. Provides customer service to internal and external customers and stakeholders.
17. Participates in the Performance Improvement processes in the Clinic.
18. The employee must work well under pressure meeting multiple and sometimes conflicting deadlines.
19. The employee shall, at all times, demonstrate cooperative behavior with colleagues and supervisors.
20. Performs other duties as assigned.
PRIMARY CONTACTS:
· Daily interaction with employees at all levels of the organization.
· Moderate interaction with vendors.
POSITION REQUISITES:
Qualification and Experience
Required:
· Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance.
· Three years' experience in accounting with at least two years' direct experience working with medical billing.
· Current fingerprint card or ability to obtain one clear of any restrictions.
Preferred:
· Certified Public Accountant (CPA)
· Payroll Certification.
Skills/Abilities
Required:
· Strong understanding of accounting principles, financial reporting, and generally accepted accounting standards (GAAP).
· Computer keyboard/10-key by touch.
· Familiarity with medical billing software, electronic medical records (EMR)
· Ability to analyze complex financial data and identify trends
Preferred:
· Word processing and spread sheet experience.
· Experience with integrated accounting system software.
· Two years of computerized payroll system.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Physical Requirements:
· Able to sit for extended periods of time.
· Frequent reaching and occasional kneeling.
· Able to key for extended period of time.
Equipment Operation:
· Computer, telephone, facsimile machine, 10-key, shredder, copier
Environmental Conditions:
· Office environment with air-conditioner/heat (Cathode Ray Tube "CRT" exposure).
