What we need:

Mohawk is looking for a Designer II who can do more with Mohawk.

This position is responsible for Mohawk’s Design & Development Departments with positive interaction with established team members, Sales divisions & a broad customers base

What you’ll do:

• Work with assigned Managers, Mentors, and Trainers to develop a working knowledge of Mohawk’s design guidelines, internal processes, equipment & all product types.
• Use artistic skills, design principles, and machine parameters to develop technically accurate artwork in response to design requests, specific instructions, or generic briefs while maintaining acceptable lead times.
• Work within & maintain Mohawk’s Copyright policies.
• Use Industry standard software to create technically accurate and aesthetically innovative designs for specific machine types
• Engage in artwork reviews, mentoring sessions, and team discussions for continuous development and increased knowledge of practical design skills, company and industry standards, and internal/external design expectations.
• Positively mentor Designer staff as needed.

What you have:

• Four-year college degree in a related field, Textile/ Graphic Design or Fine Art is preferred & a minimum of 3 years of flooring design experience. An understanding of design /color principles and concepts is required.
• Proven artistic achievement & a broad-based design portfolio is a requirements.
• Familiarity with Computer Aided Drafting (CAD) is desired (Photoshop, Illustrator, Texcelle, etc.)
• Must show an understanding of fashion trends in flooring.

• Ability to work independently, set priorities, and handle multiple tasks with concentration and accuracy to meet multiple deadlines and shifting priorities to meet company specifications and production schedules/requirements.
• Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills necessary to effectively interact with team members, management, and other internal and external customers and to build positive interpersonal relationships with various business partners in a cross–functional environment.
• Consistent, proven ability to manage and implement projects and contribute to concept development.
• Ability to approach unfamiliar situations and conceptualize a range of creative and imaginative solutions with ease, using creativity skills to develop accurate design results.

What else?

• Expect to travel approximately 10% for trade shows, customer visitation, etc.
