BASIC FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES :
Assemble, set up, serve, break down and monitors continental breakfast food and beverages with a personable, courteous and professional manner.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS :
- Engage in a two-way communication and interact effectively with others, from a variety of social, emotional, cultural and intellectual backgrounds
- Answer guest questions with accurate information and demonstrate a friendly and helpful personality by smiling, eye contact, initiating conversation and engaging with others.
- Set up buffet(s) in a timely fashion, before the beginning of service, according to standards or as directed by management.
- Inspect the buffet areas by touch, sight, sound and smell for conformance to prescribed standards of setup and replenishment.
- Maintain the appearance of the buffet and location at all times during service. Replenish all items on the buffet as needed.
- Clean up all spills as quickly as possible.
- Fulfill guest requests for food and beverage items accurately by serving and presenting menu items in a neat and appetizing manner.
- Clear the buffet(s) after the meal. Clean the equipment and return it to secure storage.
- Clean the location according to standards and leave the area presentable and ready for next use.
- Maintain and clean all buffet storage areas on a daily basis as directed by management.
- Anticipate guest's needs and meet them before you are asked.
- Maintain a presence at the location, greet guests in a friendly manner, and be approachable and informative at all times.
- Take responsibility for all Mohonk Mountain House equipment and supplies. Be careful to prevent loss and abuse of any items you use.
- Maintain a polite and pleasant personality.
- Work under crowded noisy conditions and to navigate around guests with loaded trays and potentially hot items.
- Work productively alone and without supervision when necessary.
- Handle small delicate equipment / objects without extraneous movement, contamination or destruction.
- Perform basic mathematical functions such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.
- Answer phones and take food and beverage orders from guests.
- Enter guest orders in a Point of Sale Terminal and enter special requests such as dietary restrictions, allergies, etc.
- Learn standard menu items, describe to the guest in detail and answer guest questions.
- Provide recommendations and suggestions aimed at enhancing the satisfaction of diners such as recommendations about wine pairings.
- Adhere to Mohonk Mountain House's Dress and Grooming Standards; presenting a neat, clean and well-groomed appearance and maintaining a positive, professional image to our customers.
- Learn and successfully demonstrate the Mohonk Mountain House Service Steps with Service Strategies with guests and staff.
- Learn and retain knowledge of historical facts and information about Mohonk Mountain House.
- Develop and maintain positive working relationships with other staff.
- Speak, read and write the English language and communicate in a clear and congenial manner, with our guests, visitors and employees. Hear verbal instructions, directions and warnings.
- Reach with hands and arms, bend, kneel, stoop, twist and flex arms, walk up and down stairs / inclines, sit, climb up / down ladders or stand for up to 5 hours at a time.
- Negotiate stairs up and down, and uneven pathways while carrying service trays up to 20 / lbs.
- Maneuver carts or dollies safely with loads up to 200 pounds up and down stairs, elevators, through passageways or outdoors up to 500 feet.
- Lift up to 50 pounds from ground level to waist level and carries a distance of up to 75 feet with / without assistance. Walk up to 7 miles per day.
- Lift and carry 25-35 lbs. to public areas within the hotel.
- See close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
- Maintain a flexible work schedule including days / nights, weekdays / weekends, holidays, and during peak periods of business.
- Demonstrate regular, predictable and punctual attendance during regularly scheduled work hours.
- Work a varying schedule, sometimes on short notice, when needed.
